Thanks for the quick reply! I have all the relevant bio's. I have even tried grabbing them from different sources in case the zips were corrupted but I still get the error above even if I try "Run Dreamcast" from Demul itself and not via Launchbox

Demul Dc.zip Download

Download File https://urlgoal.com/2yLVrk

It is not in my dc.zip file. I have acquired a number of dc.zips online from various sources and none of them contain this missing file "set5v1.001.ic507". . Out of interest and I am not asking for anyone to share it but can you confirm that you have this missing file in your dc.zip? Thanks

1) I have a load of Naomi roms however they are in zip format. Each zip containing A gdi file and some additional bin and raw files for example. I cannot get the games to run. Does the GDI file need to be extracted for Naomi games and if so what about the additional files in the zip?

I'm new to Demul and need your help. I followed the tutorial about Naomi games, downloaded a non merged 0.185 mame romset and use the batch files to extract Naomi, Naomi2, Naomi GD, Naomi 2 GD, Gaelco, Hikaru, Atomiswave roms to differents directories.

1) In Demul, only Atomiswave games are working. For example, I get a load file error with Dead or alive 2 (Naomi); "Unable to find 'epr-21576d.ic27' in romset 'naomi'". I don't understand because I added all my rom directories in Plugins, Maple & Paths. What did I do wrong?

2 all the GD games require the CHD
3 this depends on how you have things setup I have them all in different directories but every directory you wish to use has to be added to your paths in the Demul settings.
I've never seen the last error as I only use a 360 pad myself with Demul

The only real reason I even touch the am2/3 is because the Saturn emulator it utter crap. everything else ive found just seems to run or work better on other programs such as Naomi 2 has VF4 but it works better when running on the ps2 emulator pcsx2

I just really don't see the need for the AM2/3/Naomi when the dreamcast versions work much better. ONLY reason I can see to get the AM2 version of anything would be zombie revenge and that's only because I CANNOT complete it at all on the dreamcast version. so using an arcade version were you can just add credit after credit might be better for that game

Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tuned, the final and many consider best version of VF4, was never released outside of arcades so the Naomi version is the only version. Not sure if any good ports of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper is available outside of the PSP version (which you can't play 2 player games on, being a handheld version), so that one may be worth it. Other than that, most of the games have near perfect ports to the Dreamcast or PS2.

This here will pull the games out of a current MAME set the only real issue is if you have a MAME split set the DC.zip file won't work unless it is merged together with all of the other files that go with it now. MAME recently split the DC bios into separate files and Demul doesn't know how to handle it yet a non-merged set or even a merged copy of this file would eliminate that issue though

The Last Versions of Demul no longer use the Older Rom Set they use Mame Rom set, Plus mame Bios, I did not updated my demull because of that, I don't know if there is any improvement on emulation that justifies getting all the roms again.

I don't understand the purpose of this tool. Can't you just add your MAME roms directory to the paths in Demul? I've been using Demul 0.5.82 for a long time and decided to upgrade to the latest version and I was getting errors with all of my roms. I figured they had changed something so I added the path of my MAME roms to Demul and that seems to work. I only tested one or two games though.

Does anyone know if there is any advantage to upgrading? I'm going to check out Dolphin Blue tomorrow to see if that has been fixed. The sound in that game stops working at some point. I can't remember if it's halfway through the first level or during the second level.

While you can simply add your MAME path to Demul that doesn't really help you get the ROMs setup in LB/BB especially if you want them to be separated into their own platform. If you run the tools you will get a folder for the specific platform which is then easy to import into LB at that point you could actually go into LB and change their path to your MAME folder and delete the ROMs in the folder but without initially separating them how would you import them. The fact that these games don't work in MAME will also exclude them from being imported with a normal MAME import so these same games will not be listed in your arcade platform unless you import broken and non working games also which is something I wouldn't be interested in doing personally.

hello does anyone have a working command line demul version .07 to run sega dreamcast? i've tried several i found on google for gameex but cant seem to get it for .gdi files. emulator works outside gameex, thx.

If there is nothing in Roms and Bioses Paths, create the folder "roms" in the Demul folder and click Add. Navigate to the roms folder in the window that pops up and click on OK. Once done, close Plugins and Paths.

Thanks a lot for this. I looked at Demul briefly some time ago, couldn't get it working properly, then forgot about it due to being too busy to troubleshoot it. I'll be sure to give these settings a try when I have time!

While your guide is appreciated, honestly the best solution to get good speed but more importantly Correct emulation by leaving autosort on and using the DX11 gpu plugin, is to get a video card from the specs of about a GTX 650Ti and up, which does the trick for my cab with all Demul arcade titles.

Iirc auto sort affects ALOT more games than you listed, I went through every Atomiswave and Naomi game for cab, and it really needs to be enabled. It's just slow because the emu is just a mess IMO and really unbalanced/unoptimized.

I agree with tnrz, dx11 is usually faster. Dx11 is usually faster than dx10 even in windows games. Moreover disabling opaque modifier and translucent modifier will make 3d graphic worse. This emulator really likes hi-end videocards, demul is the only emulator to got a speed bump when i upgraded from 9800gtx+ to 660gtx.

Well, I have a gtx 770 oc'ed and have an oc'ed 4.5 ghz i5 4670k and I cannot upscale past 2x without lag on Sonic Adventure for DC. So that should show you what you are up against. Meanwhile my CPU power is only around 15-20%.

The most demanding game I have encountered on my arcade cabinet is Wild Riders, which is Naomi 2. There is not a single arcade rom on my htpc so I have not thrown that game at my 770. But like I said, even a 780 ti would probably get stutter if trying to go above 2x. It once again boils down to poor optimization.

Dark13, yea I know what happened to that x64 build that was supposed to come out? So much for that. But ya know the Demul devs just do as they please, because they have everyone by the balls because it's closed source. Alls they do all year is post pictures of new games they get to boot, but how about fixing game breaking bugs that have been in the emu for YEARS like the music stopping problem in Dolphin Blue, or the game crash in Initial D?

I would recommend the Atomiswave to Naomi conversions (done by Breaking CPS3, Google is your friend) for playing Dolphin Blue. I know this fix causes lots of bugs, but otherwise for most of us who have less-high-end systems, it should load most games with a good deal of speed. Whatever works for you may be quite different from this, but, for me, this is what works the fastest.

If your specs are higher, the DX11 plugin may be a good choice. Personally, on mine, which is built for DX10, it just runs slower, but, if you have a high-class Alienware, Origin, or a custom gaming tower, you may want to try DX11. That mainly has to do for what your graphics card is made to do. It mainly is what works for you.

Most of the settings in the first post produced mixed results. I found better results with the DX11 plugin, without disabling Auto Sort; Disable Opaque Modifier; and Translucent Modifier. As this machine is lower spec'ed than my laptop and is going to eventually wind up in a cab or a dedicated machine for arcade gaming, this leads me to suspect that Demul is very peculiar with it's setup. I tried running Makaron on my laptop with worse results than Demul. I suspect Makaron may run better on this dedicated machine. Weird.
