MyChart gives you access to your personal health records all in one place. View your medications, test results, appointments, bills and more, even if you have been seen at multiple health care organizations. MyChart is a convenient way to participate in your health care and communicate with your providers online.

Access your test results online when they become available, along with your doctor's notes. No more waiting for a call or letter to receive results. You can even chart your progress against earlier tests in a graph. You can also view your doctors' notes from previous visits, and send a prescription refill request for your refillable medications.

You and your family can collaborate and stay informed on your care, from your mobile device or laptop, while you are in the hospital. View your test results, medications, schedule for the day, and educational information about your diagnoses and treatments.

Lab results, imaging studies and pathology reports all release to MyChart. All lab results release automatically within 48 hours of being sent to your provider. Patients receive their results quickly because we know they are anxious to see them, but there may be times the patient will see the result before the provider has had the opportunity to review them. Please allow the provider time to review the results and send a comment.

Patients can chart and graph numerical test results to track their health improvement. Select a result and click on "View Historical Results." You can display your results as a chart, chart by date, or line and bar graph.

All your lab results, including imaging and pathology tests, are released to your MyCHArt account immediately after the results are finalized in our medical record system. For tests done during an overnight hospital visit, the results are released when you are discharged from the hospital

While some people are happy to see results immediately, others may be uncomfortable or anxious seeing results before a provider can interpret and explain them. If you would prefer not to see your results at the same time they are sent to your provider, please let your provider know when the lab or test is ordered so that he or she can hold the results until you can be contacted.

The 21st Century Cures Act is a federal mandate that is designed to give patients more access to their medical information. As of March 31, 2021, UI Health is providing test results and provider notes (with a few exceptions) will be released via the MyChart patient portal as soon as they are available. Click here for Cures Act Frequently Asked Question (pdf).

Items that are part of your medical record include prescriptions, lab results, allergies and immunizations. These will transfer when you enroll in MyChart. You will be able to see information on your health record such as results and clinicians' notes. You will see your results at the same time as your provider. Please give your provider time to review your results. He/she can put some of your results on hold until he/she is able to talk to you or if the information can cause harm or violate your privacy. Please consult with your provider if you have any questions about your results or additional information.

Some test results may be hard to understand or sound more alarming than they really are; other results may show a serious disease like cancer. Some patients may prefer to delay these results in order to hear the result from their provider who can help interpret the test for you.

We understand that you may want to get certain results directly from your doctor. To avoid any misunderstanding or unnecessary alarm based on what you see, you can tell your provider that you would prefer delaying or preventing certain results from going to MyChart before they place the order. How to do this:

Sensitive information, such as tumor indicators or genetic results, is delayed 5 days to give the provider a chance to review it first. Once results are available in MyChart, families will receive an email notification.
