I have multiple PCs but have found that when I loaded drivers for my desktop scanner (Epson Perfection 1670) and began scanning, that the process halts. This locks up my laptop PC and leaves the scan hanging.

I have consulted Epson and I am using their latest compliant driver/scanner utility on both PCs. I have also checked with Dell, there is no explanation from the PC angle but they believe there must be a setting in McAfee that prevents the scanner communicating properly with my laptop PC. They did suggest 'checking -(x)' - file sharing under Firewall Settings, but this didn't work either.

If scanner still locks up it could be another cause. If it now runs go to tech services link in the useful links tab ablove and contact chat and see if they can help you (Oh reanable all components). If necessary escalate issue to a higher yeir tech. ( You request initial tech that you wish to have issue escalated)

I've installed the driver offered by Epson (also explicitely for 13.x) "Epson Scanner ICA driver" but when opening the scanner window I eventually get the message "Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345).

VueScan is the Swiss Army Knife of scanner software, the goto product for Mac users who have trouble with their scanners and macOS. I have used it for over ten years. The developer continues regular support.

In my desperate attempts to get this working I installed / removed the driver a couple of times. Any chance I messed it up like this? Where can I check (also on UNIX / terminal level if necessary) whether I have a conflict somewhere?

Also, to further diagnose the issue, download, install & run Vuescan (free, fully functional demo although scans will be watermarked). If you can scan with Vuescan, then your hardware & physical connection are fine and the problem narrows to either the Epson driver or something related to it.

I had downloaded the latest driver, ICA Scanner Driver v5.8.12 for Image Capture (ESICA_5.8.12.dmg; 10/17/22) and received the message "Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345) using both Image Capture and Epson Scanner.

After using VueScan and trying again with Epson Scanner for this reply, I found a new popup about Document folder access and I now receive a new message "Overview scan timed out." Image capture doesn't change after "Waiting for scanner..." as it did before.

I am using ubuntu 18.04 LTS . I have a EPSON L220 All-in-One printer ( printer + scanner). I successfully configure the printer setting and printing is done very well. But scanner is not working. I have downloaded the epson scanner driver from , extract the zip file, open a terminal, go to the folder and and run the command ./install.sh from terminal, it simply run the command without any error. But when I open software Image Scan!for linux , then it shows the following error message

Recently I got a call from one of my users to help set up their Epson V300 scanner. Allegedly, when the scanner driver was installed using this link: -bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=113127&prodo... Opens a new window , for Windows 7 - 64 bit, nothing really changed. But, a new program was installed. The program installed was a product called Moozy. It is a radio station application -- similar to Pandora. And on top of that, the user still couldn't get the scanner to work properly. It appears in the Printers and Devices category, but no functionality. Even Action Center reports an incorrect driver is installed.

So I went to take a look myself. I uninstalled Moozy and rebooted. I brought the machine to the desktop and went to Epson's website for their driver. The same link as above. Even the user informed me that I was doing everything exactly as he had done. I figured that it was some bloatware that came attached with the driver and wasn't deselected, but after downloading and installing the software from Epson, I realized I was never even asked about additional programs being installed. I was given the option between a typical and complete option, but nothing in either one mentions Moozy. Regardless of which option I selected, I was in the same position my user was in -- no scanner working and Moozy installed in its place.

So to sum this all up, my question to you is: Have any of you experience this issue before? What is Moozy exactly? Is it potentially dangerous? And how can I get this scanner to work, if Epson's own drivers aren't working?

I know this isn't the preferred option, but when someone here installs something that I'm pulling my hair out to get rid of, we use IObits Uninstaller, from there I would find everything related to the scanner and the supposed 'Junkware', once done I would do a powerful scan (comes with the uninstaller) which will find all additional files related to the product and rip them out also.

So I edited /etc/sane.d/dll.conf,to add epkowa (it wasn't listed), and comment epson2; epson was already commented. The page SANE: External Backends (Drivers) mentions that the 3170 is supported by epkowa ("requires DFSG non-free iscan-plugin-gt-9400 overseas version of the GT-9400UF").

Just like others I could get Ubuntu 20.04 to find my scanner (in my case an Epson V370 connected via USB) after installing the Epson Imagescan drivers, but not to actually connect to to the scanner and use it.

Download the Linux driver package for your scanner from the official Epson support page. In my case I was searching for Epson 3490 Linux driver. The package was named iscan-plugin-gt-f520-1.0.0-1.c2.i386.rpm. Before downloading the licence conditions had to be accepted.

We use the DS 510 in our medical office. The scanner used to scan both Insurance cards and photo ID's with no problem, but recently it jams on only the Drivers License photo ID. I have looked and found no mechanical issues. If we place the ID longways in the scanner it will scan, but then we spend extra time rotating the ID for our files. Time consuming. Any suggestions?

Using Remote Capture with one of the supported desktop scanner models requires the installation of 2 separate drivers. Depending on your desktop configuration you may need administrative rights to be able to install the drivers.

This wikiHow will teach you how to download Epson scanner software on your computer. After you have the scanner or All-in-One connected to your computer, you can follow these steps to get the appropriate software including any drivers that are required.

When you connect a scanner to your device or add a new scanner to your home network, you can usually start scanning pictures and documents right away. If your scanner doesn't automatically install, here's some help to get things working.

In most cases, all you have to do to set up a scanner is to connect it to your device. Plug the USB cable from your scanner into an available USB port on your device, and turn the scanner on. If that doesn't work, here's a way to do it manually.

If your scanner is turned on and connected to the network, Windows should find it automatically. Available scanners can include all scanners on a network, such as Bluetooth and wireless scanners or scanners that are plugged into another device and shared on the network. Here's a way to do it manually.

If you use wireless access points, extenders or multiple wireless routers with separate SSIDs, you'll need to ensure that you're connected to the same network as the scanner for your PC to find and install it.

If your scanner is included in a multifunction or All-In-One printer, you may only see the name of your printer. To see your scanner, under Printers & scanners, select your installed printer, select Manage, and then choose your scanner.

EPSON Scan 2 directly controls all of the features of your EPSON scanner. With this software you can scan images in color, grayscale, or black and white and obtain professional quality results. This program is the standard cross-platform interface between your scanner and most applications.

Epson Scan 2 allows you to scan your document and save scanned files in PDF format on your computer. Epson Scan 2 functions as a scanner driver that allows you to control the scanner. You can adjust the size, resolution, brightness, contrast, and quality of the scanned image. You can also start this application from a TWAIN-compliant scanning application.

Seiko Epson Corporation, commonly known as Epson,[3] is a Japanese multinational electronics company and one of the world's largest manufacturers of printers and information- and imaging-related equipment. Headquartered in Suwa, Nagano, Japan,[4] the company has numerous subsidiaries worldwide and manufactures inkjet, dot matrix, thermal and laser printers for consumer, business and industrial use, scanners, laptop and desktop computers, video projectors, watches, point of sale systems, robots and industrial automation equipment, semiconductor devices, crystal oscillators, sensing systems and other associated electronic components.

In September 2012, Epson introduced a printer called the Expression Premium XP-800 Small-in-One, with the ability to print wirelessly.[18] The Expression brand name has since been used on various models of scanners. In the third quarter of 2012, Epson's global market share in the sale of printers, copiers and multifunction devices amounted to 15.20 percent.[19]

Looking for a known good way to setup an Epson Artisan 800 on Ubuntu specifically or any linux box in general. It is a printer/scanner with ethernet/wifi/usb. I'd like to use it as a network printer/scanner being able to do both from my Windows and Ubuntu machines; however, if it needs to be physically connected to a computer (preferably the Ubuntu machine) that is doable (again, then sharing print/scan functions to the network).

Updated: A little more information, like most printers (I expect) the documentation for the printer basically says, "don't use plug-n-play, run our setup CD from your Windows/Mac system", to do anything (set it up for network use even). I guess that's to make it easy for anyone else to setup, but when you're looking to use it with an unsupported (by Epson's documentation) OS, you're just stuck on your own. What I was hoping for was someone who could say, "Forget the bundled software, do [this] to set it up on wifi manually, install [this] to connect to the scanner from [os], printing works with [this] driver - at least that's how I set it up."I'll will (and have so far) use the information here, and post my own setup when I'm done, if there's no one else out there with that experience.
