I have been a longtime user of keynote .. and now keynote-NF .. on
windows. This is my first post.

Now I'm experimenting with ubuntu linux and I've used wine to run
keynote-nf in a windows emulation mode.

But I'm hitting this OLE error 8004001 for example when I try to paste
links or text into a keynote node.

Has keynote-NF been used in a linux environment (windows emulation
using wine)?

Others in the wine-hq have hit this error on various applications so
it is not unique to keynote-NF.

I believe it is related to the richtexteditor.

You might try copying your msftedit.dll from your windows xp system directory c:\windows\system32 to your working directory (installation) of your keynote.exe file.

There is no installation or registration needed for msftedit.dll just needs to be in the same directory.

Thank you for that tip Alan.

I placed msftedit.dll from my Vista (not XP) directory in Keynote-NF
directory (although I do have an XP installation if an older dll is
required).

Encouragingly the OLE error message did not reappear.

However two points:

Another error message appeared "module not found - msls31.dll"

and more problematic

my text in the node window is invisible!

I've tried changing text colour but to no avail.
I know that there is text in the node because I can paste in a
hyperlink and launch Firefox.
I can copy and paste the invisible text into a ubuntu editor.
I have sent myself a test email so most of the innards seem to be
working.
I have tried a test macro which seems to work although the text is
invisible!

I'll now try adding msls31.dll to see if that makes a difference.
Otherwise .. any more ideas?

It would be nice if Keynote-NF could work on Wine. It is nearly there.

O.K.

I added msls31.dll to the Keynote-NF directory in addition to
msftedit.dll

and KeyNote-NF now works nicely in ubuntu 10.10 / wine!

Thank you
