Afterreinstalling windows I'm unable to find an SM bus controller driver. I've downloaded all updates from microsoft, all software and drivers for my laptop from the HP drivers downloads page and have installed the graphics and chipset drivers directly from AMD using their autodetect system. Below is as much info on my laptop as I can find, any help would be massively appreciated.
In other devices there is still an unknown device, there were 2 but I assumed they were to do with the SM Bus controller but I think it may be the card reader driver, not too concerned now I can rule out that bus controller.
This package provides the driver that enables the Synaptics TouchPad in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The driver enables general touchpad functionality (for example double-tap and scroll) and provides a user interface.
Brilliant! Right again, thank you again Paul everythings all in order though I did have to use the earlier driver as the latest one wasn't wanting to play ball but all devices are now ok in device manager and I can get on with the rest of my life again lol
Many hardware names are usually named after the chip model, and each chip model has its own dedicated driver, so as long as you know the chip model used by the hardware, you can find the right driver. For example, if your graphics card is named: "AMD Radeon RX 580", while actually the core chip model used is: "Radeon RX 580", then enter "Radeon RX 580" or "RX 580" to find the driver.
If you have a laptop or an all-in-one PC, you can also use the product name to search, and then go to the download page which has all the drivers for this machine (including: graphics card, network card, sound card, etc.). For example, if your laptop product name is: "Dell A6-9220e Inspiron Flagship", then type "Dell A6-9220e" to find all the drivers for this laptop.
