You gotta see the alien battleships in this movie. They seem to have been assembled by the proverbial tornado blowing through a junkyard. They're aggressively ugly and cluttered, the product of a planet where design has not been discovered and even the Coke bottles must look like pincushions. Although these ships presumably arrived inside the meteors, one in particular exhibits uncanny versatility, by rising up from the Earth before the very eyes of the startled Marines. How, you may ask, did it tunnel for 10 or 12 blocks under Santa Monica to the battle lines at Lincoln Boulevard?

Battle: Los Angeles (which was also released under the title World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles) is a 2011 science fiction war film directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Columbia Pictures. A poorly-received videogame adaptation of the movie, developed by Saber Interactive and published by Konami, was also released together with the film. The film stars Aaron Eckhart as Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz, a Marine on the verge of retirement and whose actions in battle start to cause concern among some of the men under his command; however, this is interrupted when the titular battle begins as a meteor shower turns out to be the first phase of an alien invasion. The film was made with the cooperation of the US Department of Defense and the United States Marine Corps, who supplied the production with authentic armor and aircraft. The events of the film are supposed to be tied into the "Battle of Los Angeles", an event in early 1942 when the US military opened fire on what were thought to be Japanese aircraft over the city; the "Battle" turned out to be a false alarm, though some believe the antiaircraft batteries were firing at alien spacecraft (an incident that also loosely inspired the 1979 Steven Spielberg film 1941). The film's cast includes Michelle Rodriguez, Ramon Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, and Michael Peña.

Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart) is notably seen firing a Beretta 92FS (used as the substitute for the Military M9) pistol at the alien soldiers during the final battle. In a continuity error, he is seen first firing the handgun and then in the next scene he is actually seen drawing the handgun. A Marine is also seen drawing one out during the first encounter of the alien soldiers.

The M203A1 grenade launcher is seen used by several U.S. Marines as well mounted on the M4A1 carbines, most notably Cpl. Jason Lockett (Cory Hardrict) and Cpl. Lee Imlay (Will Rothhaar) where the latter is seen using his M203A1 to detonate an explosive during the final battle.

One of the Marines is seen carrying the M136 AT4 after acquiring it from the wreckage of the FOB. Technical Sergeant Elena Santos (Michelle Rodriguez) uses it in the battle to destroy an alien drone. The sound editing crew seems to the treat the AT4 as a guided weapon, judging by the squealing lock-on tone heard before firing, despite the fact that Santos was actually aiming at the drone's flight path rather than the drone itself.

During the battle on the highway, Marines are seen hiding M112 C4 demolition charges in wrecked vehicles as the aliens advance. While obviously no movie would have actors handling actual plastic explosive charges, the prop charges emulate the lettering of the real thing.

The soldiers show bravery and positive thinking, and they work together well, solving problems and eventually triumphing over the odds. Nantz is haunted by past battles and terrible mistakes he's made; his men don't trust him, but he demonstrates admirable heroism. He shows inclusiveness and empathy toward the story's civilians.

This movie is an almost constant battle, with a plethora of guns and shooting. Many characters get shot and die, and there's a generous amount of blood. There are also grenades, missiles, and big explosions, as well as general devastation and destruction. In one graphic scene, the heroes "operate" on an alien body, looking for major organs in an attempt to figure out how to kill it.

In August 2011, meteors begin approaching the Earth; they turn out to be alien invaders bent on colonizing our planet. The military underestimates the threat, and soon everything comes down to one band of scrappy young Marines. Troubled veteran Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart) winds up in charge, despite rumors that he once let several of his men die in battle. Making their way through the ruined concrete jungles of the bombed-out city, Nantz and his warriors pick up a few stranded, brave civilians and slowly begin to discover their attackers' secrets. But can they put their knowledge to good use before it's too late?

As Los Angeles is evacuated, Marine Staff Sergeant Nantz (Aaron Eckhart) leads his new platoon and an inexperienced lieutenant against the attackers. Their main goal is to evacuate civilians ahead of a planned bombing offensive, but matters are complicated when they must destroy the enemy's command and control center. Meanwhile, similar battles are waged across the world in other cities.

The military doctrine of this species seems to be concentrated on the principles of rapid dominance: using superior maneuverability and firepower to achieve a coordinated and devastating first-strike. This seems to come at the cost of armor protection, relatively speaking, for both infantry and vehicles. The alien vehicles tend to be very maneuverable, but to have exposed positions for their operators. Their battle doctrine seems to be based on the concept of eliminating enemy resistance before it can mount a coordinated retaliation.

Indeed, it seems that the concept of heavily armored units meant to survive protracted combat is an alien concept to this race, as their forces seem relatively unprepared to fight Human armored vehicles, and lose their combat edge when fighting Human infantry in long battles of attrition. Their infantry weapons fire incendiary rounds, which are devastating against unprotected Human infantry. However, surprisingly for the weapons of a technologically advanced alien race, Human infantry body armor and flak jackets are able to provide reasonable protection against these incendiary rounds.

During the battle on the highway overpass, several aliens set up an anti-armor weapon that fired concentrated blasts of plasma in an arc. The weapon was able to destroy an M1 Abrams by hitting the top of the armor, but did not seem to be effective against infantry. The weapon exploded in a sizeable blast after being hit with several bullets from a Humvee-mounted machinegun, killing its operators and the Operations Caste aliens around it.

The Walking Gun is more of an infantry support weapon/field artillery than an actual vehicle. The Gun fires 16 small, guided missiles at a single target in order to destroy cover. The gun is generally well-armored, although a shot to one of the joints staggered one until the pulse jet engines at the rear of the machine were able to right it within a minute. Each walking gun is presumably operated by one of the Intel Caste members, as they are the only ones with two grasping hands. The guns are used to support both Operations and General Infantry during a battle, and are operated by a gunner and a loader, who carries several reserve magazines for the weapon.

The battle in Los Angeles showcases alien forces engaging armed forces of the United States of America; namely U.S. Marines, although National Guard, Air Force, and Army soldiers also see combat. The aliens are seen giving the U.S. Marines a very difficult fight, utilizing their advanced weaponry to conquer most of Los Angeles. Furthermore, alien aircraft eventually arrive and appear to easily take control of the air above LA from the U.S. Air Force. Besides their ground and large air forces, the aliens deploy a sort of command center which controls the unmanned flying drones. Within a day, the drones allow the aliens to push most of the U.S. military force out of LA, killing thousands during the engagements. However, a squad of Marines is able to destroy the command center, disabling all of the drones and depriving the aliens of their air assets. Without air support, the aliens had lost their advantage and their forces lacked the tactical co-hersion that was so dominant during the first hours of the invasion. These Marines later retreat back to a command post, and join up with thousands of reinforcements ready to try and take back Los Angeles from the alien invaders. It was speculated that it took a further 18 months to fully kill or capture all aliens that were part of the West Coast offensive force.

And during the combat scenes, even when the Marines are caught off-guard, they reload from behind cover, exercise trigger discipline, and when it comes time to go on the offensive during the climactic battle, they buddy-bound, with one Marine moving forward while another lays down suppressing fire.

Below are a few good Scripture verses that specifically talk about these battle angels. One of the verses mentioned below literally talks about the sword that is seen on one of these battle angels. St. Michael the archangel is a battle angel.

USS IOWA has a long and fascinating history. She was built as the lead vessel of the newest class of battleships, designed during the 1930s as the world was rapidly moving toward war. Commissioned in 1943, IOWA was used in both the Atlantic and the Pacific theaters during World War II.
