Dear Tim,

It was a great surprise to find your 64-bit Keykit distribution (key_nt.zip) at https://github.com/nosuchtim/keykit/tree/master/dist .

Having spent a very long time with my stable 32bit Keykit-7.7b environment on Windows 7 (64bit), I had no idea you were working on a 64-bit version after all these years.

I recently purchased a clean Win10 notebook that has never had any contact with Visual Studio or any IDE. This system will be a platform for further MIDI experimentation.

Unfortunately the unzipped 64-bit key.exe fails to start with an error message like “Code execution cannot be completed because MSVCP140D.dll was not found” (message translated from German).

Using Google I found some hints, that the missing .dll might be part of a redistributable package, maybe the D in the filename indicates a “developer” version...

Would you expect that...

might indicate a way to solve the problem? Any other ideas?

Tim – thanks again in advance for your continued support.

Holger

With Holger's help I've fixed this problem.  The key_nt.zip file found at https://github.com/nosuchtim/keykit/blob/master/dist/key_nt.zip is a 64-bit version that you can run just by unzipping it and executing bin/key.exe.  This version now uses the RtMidi library for handling MIDI, which means that sysex messages should work properly in the 64-bit version, and it should be a bit easier to resurrect support for OSX (someday).
