Hello, fellow District Secretaries and District Secretary-Treasurers,

Thank you for your valuable insight regarding your Secretary and Secretary-Treasurer duties.
As you guys approach the end of your terms, I have a specific question regarding your overall experience in office.

Question 3: If you can share any words of wisdom and/or caution to your newly elected District Secretary or District Secretary-Treasurer, what would they be?
(The words of wisdom can be based on the complications you may had in office, officer expectations, favorite memories, etc.)

Thanks! The response should be finished by NEXT SUNDAY!

I would tell my newly elected District Secretary/Treasurer to make
sure to ask lots of questions and keep in touch with our district
adminstrators on at least a weekly basis.

I would have to say to my successor to make sure to keep in contact
with the governor and tell what is going on, know that the governor
would replace an lieutenant governor without your knowledge and you
should not be the last person to know about it. And get on the
lieutenant governors with their club contacts before December. It's a
blast working on the district board, but know that there will be
frustrations, lots of frustrations. It does not matter if you cannot
make it to random meetings set up the day before even though you're on
the executive board.

Best Regards,

Hi Yoo Eun!

I would tell my innie to plan ahead and manage schoolwork with Key Club work well. Balancing these two was definitely the hardest task I had during my term.

Hey Yoo Eun

Word of advice? Use excel to track all the documents circulating within the district. Send out reminders to the LTGs that they need to cc you on all docs because sometimes they'd only turn it in to the adults. Give recognition for people who always turn their form in on time!

Hi Yoo Eun,

I'm so sorry for the late reply! We had a Board meeting the first weekend of March and I have been bent on finishing the minutes. This, conveniently, leads me to my greatest and probably most cliched piece of advice: don't procrastinate! Although 15 days seem like a long time to turn in minutes, it's really not when the minutes are about 30 pages long. So, definitely learn to love "To Do" lists and manage your time well.
