Hello everybody.

I am testing downgrade procedure for Keycloak. I have two scenarios.

First one:
1) Install 16.1.0
2) Upgrade to 17.0.1
3) Downgrade to 16.1.0

works fine. However second one :
1) Install 17.0.1
2) Downgrade to 16.1.0

fails. Is that a valid scenario at all?

thanks
Mateusz

Hi Mateusz,

in general, you cannot downgrade as there is now way to roll back a database migration. You could only restore a backup – but then you would lose all changes that happened after the backup. Only exception to this is if there are actually no db migrations in a newer Keycloak version.

Best regards,

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian

Thanks for clarification. It was kinda what I was expecting but wanted to make sure.

Kind regards
Mateusz
