I've had the same thing happen to me a few times. Moreover, I've actually managed to find a way to reproduce it! In my case, it has something to do with the menu key (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menu_key) - when I accidentally press it with my wrist whilst typing the site goes buggy.
