MN Educational Equity Edcamp Update:
Our May communication regarding Minnesota Educational Equity Edcamp 2020 was ready to be sent during the last week of May. Our planning committee paused following the killing of George Floyd by the Minneapolis Police Department. We felt that focusing solely on digital equity felt inadequate and inauthentic to the pain in our community. We have spent the past few weeks in reflection and conversation.
The revised theme for this year will be “Cultivating Radical Hope and Healing” and we will ask our panelists and attendees to help us envision school next fall. We know that digital learning and digital equity will continue to be an underlying theme with the pandemic, but we must also address systemic racism in our educational institutions and come together in community in pursuit of hope and healing.
We are opening up registration for the event. This year’s conference will be virtual rather than in-person and we have decided to spread our conversations out over the course of two shorter days - August 11 and 12 from 9am-1pm each day. Each day will include a panel of speakers to begin the day, various interactive sessions, and breakout spaces for discussions.
Graduate credit will be available through Hamline for those who wish to pursue that option (see the Credit & CEUs page to learn more and register for graduate credit) and CEU’s will be available to all. When registering, you will be invited to suggest sessions for the day. Register today for Minnesota Educational Equity Edcamp 2020.
Thank you for everything you do for our students and families. If you have any questions, please email us at MNEdEqui...@gmail.com.
Take good care,
