Hello Amazing Educators, 

The Northern Lights Collaborative for Computing Education would like two share two great upcoming professional development opportunities. Regardless of the grade level you teach or experience level with computer science education there are great options that will help you grow! Both of these opportunities also include opportunities for paid stipends for participation. I'll post short descriptions below, along with link to find full information. I'll also share full written descriptions at the bottom, and a slide with information, please help by spreading the word about these opportunities to your networks.

  • North Star Relatives Computer Science Summit
    • June 24-25 at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet, MN
    • Registration open until June 12th
    • We are collaborating with a MN non-profit named Relentless Feather to offer a 2 day CS conference focused on increasing CS education opportunities for Indigenous students in the midwest. This event is open to all Indigenous education allies including formal and non-formal K-12 educators, Tribal educators, as well as mentors and leaders. 
    • Participants will receive a $200 stipend, as well as an additional $200 stipend if a hotel reservation is needed.
  • Empower {MN:CS} Conference
    • Aug 5-7 at Twin Cities UMN Campus
    • Registration open until July 22nd
    • This is a 3 day conference that includes a variety of workshops for attendees to choose from depending on experience levels and learning goals. Workshops include topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Introduction to Computer Science and Computational Thinking, Data Science with Programming, and more.
    • Participants who attend all 3 days will receive a $630 stipend, and travel reimbursements are available for educators coming from outside the Twin Cities area.
