online school questions please

Our online teachers at our online high school that is celebrating 20 years this year have some questions for anybody else that has knowledge of their schools online Ways and means:

 

How do you handle asynchronous attendance?

 

How do you handle work extensions for IEP and 504 students so they can still see the content in your LMS after the end of the quarter or semester?

 

Can anybody in the group with some knowledge of your districts online school help out just out of curiosity it’s been too long since I’ve been to one of the statewide gatherings of online teachers.

Hi James,

This is my last week as a full time teacher, but I can answer what NSO does. I’m branching out into doing AI consulting for districts.

We gauge attendance by assignment submissions. If a student doesn’t submit assignments it triggers notices and ultimately withdrawal.

For 504/IEP accommodations we set up special roles in our LMS with different permissions.

Attendance has been an active topic of conversation among online school leaders who meet monthly in MNOLA and I believe they have compiled resources for their members. Membership is free right now so you might want to check them out.
