We are in the planning stages of developing something to guide staff in the purposeful and effective use of AI for teacher things and with students. Has anyone developed an AI policy, statement, guiding documents, professional development opportunities, or anything else related to AI? If so, I'd love to connect with you!

Hi Everyone:
I’m not aware of any district that has adopted a board level policy on AI at this point. As Jon indicated that takes time, and I wonder if school districts might be better off to issue guidance to staff since 1) AI is changing so fast and 2) that creates more flexibility for teachers to use AI with students in ways that enhance instruction and learning. Also, how you approach AI use based on grade levels can differ widely.
I was just reading an article in Education Week that is headlined, “Schools Want Guidance on AI Use in Classrooms. States Are Not Providing It, Report Says.” According to the article, only 2% of states are undertaking statewide initiatives on AI guidance. See https://www.edweek.org/technology/schools-want-guidance-on-ai-use-in-classrooms-states-are-not-providing-it-report-says/2023/09
I have seen more information on the higher education front, and maybe this is a place to start, along with what Jon suggests. I most recently took a look at this one from Montclair State University. https://www.montclair.edu/faculty-excellence/teaching-resources/clear-course-design/practical-responses-to-chat-gpt/
This might be a great topic for our first KIC meeting in October. I’ll put it on the agenda.
