I have a 70d. I've recently got 8nto macro using the old non-IS 100MM 2 8 lens. Today I found out the delights of using the CCC app to step focus for stacking. It's a bit slow but works fine for the most part except for one annoying thing that I can't figure out. When using the MF function to bracket focus for stacking the app will only focus in one direction. There are three pairs of arrows for stepping the focus forward or backward in differently sized increments. The arrows to the right of the shutter button work fine but the arrows to the left don't do anything.
I was running on the original firmware so thought it might need an upgrade but that made no difference - I'm now running 1.1.3
I haven't tried a different lens so might do that tomorrow but was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
Running Android 11. Have reconnected multiple times, turned the camera on and off, removed and reinserted the battery. Rebooted the phone and reinstalled the CCC software.
Can't think of anything else to try....

To be clear in my mind - are you saying that if you focus close and select the right arrow the lens will step towards infinity, but if you focus far and select the left arrow the lens won't step towards the camera?

At times, the Canon Camera Connect application for iOS may behave incorrectly when attempting to connect an iOS device to a camera via Wi-Fi. Deleting the app's saved state in the background can oftentimes correct this. This does not harm the app or the device and simply causes the app to launch with a default "state", which can eliminate many issues that prevent the app from connecting to the camera and performing correctly.

4. Re-launch the app.

NOTE: If the Canon Camera Connect app is not performing properly or the camera does not remain connected when attempting to connect with Canon Camera Connect, always attempt to delete the saved state of the app BEFORE uninstalling and re-installing the app and before doing a hard re-boot of the device. This should be troubleshooting step #1 when troubleshooting Canon Camera Connect.

I have also tried the easy connection guide and also just trying to connect and it is the same result. It always finds the camera but when prompted to select how many images to view when just connecting it gives connection failed after I select all images or any of the other options, the easy connection guide is the same when selecting all images or even just today same old connection failed.

The integrated wifi cards in all cameras are weak, and painfully slow, even in close proximity to the router. The only thing that works reasonably well is an external wifi adapter, like the one you can get for the 1dx2.

The integrated wifi cards in all cameras are weak, and painfully slow, even in close proximity to the router. The only thing that works reasonably well is an external wifi adapter, like the one you can get for the 1dx2.

How much distance from the router are you talking about? Granted, the Wi-Fi in camera bodies can be slow, but I have not ran into a distance issue when using my camera. Wi-Fi is not slow because of distance. It seems to be by design.

I did some more research and it says that if I go over 1000 images it can give me this connection error but I had more than 5000+ images on the card and I was able to connect and use it even much after 1000 images had been passed.

Anyways the new SD card I have now is working and it connects just like it should. Thanks for the patience and provinding some alternatives to my problem. I hope that others that may be facing such an issue will not just try resetting the wireless settings and reconfiguring the connection instead try a different SD card if your SD card has a lot of data and or is an older card.

Just as an aside, I have always found the simplest, fastest, and most hassle free transfer method is to get a card reader. SD card readers for the Apple Lightning connector are readily available, inexpensive, and totally reliable. Unless you use and need some of the remote functions offered via a WiFi connection, just get yourself a card reader for future transfers.

Yes, the 2.x software had an ongoing issue for five years where it would just stop recording data (turning the logging off) randomly during the day. I posted an update to that old topic, and then started this topic about a completely different and worse issue in the new 3.x version of the app. The other topic had nothing to do with any camera - just the app. This issue could be some incompatibility with the app and the G5X. I have no other Canon equipment to test it with, but at the request of Canon Support I am collecting data for them.

I have a 6D2 and R5 C. The 6D2 has built in GPS. The R5 C no, but I've tested the 3.x CC app and it passed GPS info to the camera successfully. I haven't tested the duration or tried to look at the data. This was why I asked about your camera model. I'll do more testing with the R5 C and App and see what I can find out for you. Probably won't reply again until tomorrow. Have a late report today and will be working into the evening.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with the GPS tagging. Did either your camera or phone get powered off or go into sleep mode? If either device was powered off or went into sleep mode it would drop the connection. If the connection is dropped it would need to be re-established to get start tagging photos again and any photos taken when the connection was dropped would not get tagged.

The app was started up in the morning, and was still logging at night when I got back to the hotel. I would download the GPS tracks in to the camera. EVERY photo received a GPS location, but they were all the same location.

Camera Connect App wirelessly connects your compatible Canon camera with your mobile devices. Accessing all the photos on the camera and transferring them over has never been easier. Not only the app allows remote shooting but it can also add GPS data to the images.

Now, when trying to import photos, it gets to around photo 13 and then loses connection and fails. Yet it connects straight back to the camera?! I've got 400 or so photos I need to import, I've tried it in stages of 10, still doesn't work.

What's the best camera for travel? Good travel cameras should be small, versatile, and offer good image quality. In this buying guide we've rounded-up several great cameras for travel and recommended the best.

Above $2500 cameras tend to become increasingly specialized, making it difficult to select a 'best' option. We case our eye over the options costing more than $2500 but less than $4000, to find the best all-rounder.

On the Android version of the app, it shows what WiFi network the phone is connected to. I noticed that when I connected to my camera, it would temporarily show that it was connected to the camera's WiFi session ID, but then, almsot as soon as it'd done that, it would revert back to being connected to the previous WiFi network and the camera would thrown an error.

So.. I disabled autoconnect on my phone for the WiFi network I was connected to, and cycled the WiFi off and back on again on my phone to drop the WiFi connection but have WiFi enabled. Once I did that, I could reliably connect to the Camera Connect app and control my camera from my phone.

I'm getting some similar problems. Camera is an EOS6D, smartphone is new LG Android. The phone wi-fi finds the camera, connects, the camera screen says "Start the Smartphone App" but the app says "Not Connected". Tried uninstall, phone restart, and reinstall twice. Cleard camera settings twice as well. The phone wi-fi seems to connect with the camera, the camera seems to recognizeed the phone, but the app doesn't realize it's connected. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem with connectivity with my iPhone and T7i. It had worked fine previously but I've probably connected 100 times so far and every time it either says the connection failed or just drops off.

It ocurred to me to try connecting to a different phone so I did that with the same result - failed! I initially thought it had to be the camera and in fact a Canon rep said I should send it in for repairs. After reading so many posts that others have similar problems though I decided that it can't be the camera.

Never got it to work and I gave up. My phone is an Adroid. Basically this is how I see it, confirmed by what I see on You Tube How To videos. My camera and phone Wi-Fi are connecting, the moment I enter the encrytion key into my phone wi-fi login, simutaneously the phone shows connected and the camera screen changes to "Start the smartphone app". Problem is the app is supposed to bring up a prompt listing my camera and that never happens.

BTW, had assistance from Member Community on KelbyOne, they suggested stopping my Internet Security on my phone, tried that, still no change. Also, downloaded the Canon EOS Utility for my laptop, that connects and works fine.

Thanks for the information. I checked and disabled the NFC connection but it didn't solve the problem for me. It connects easily enough as usual but as soon as you try to use any of the functions it just disconnects.

I have a canon Powershot sx720 and am using the Canon Camera Connect via NFC/Wifi to transfer pictures to my Galaxy S8. When transferring pictures they end up on the S8's internal storage and not the external SD card.
