It looks like the problem is that the draw loop is running the winnerWinner or endGame function over and over, so the sound is playing over and over. Can you try doing something similar to how you saved the game state in order to create the start screen? For example, have a won variable that is originally set to false. Then, inside the winnerWinner function, instead of just checking to see whether (score >= 10), check for ((score >= 10) && (won ==false)). Then set won to true inside that code.

@elizabeth_admin A student in my class was having this same issue with the sound looping when she needed to finish out a winning and losing page. I tried this code suggestion for her to try to fix the issue and it did not solve the problem. I wanted to pass that along. I am sorry. However, there was some promise with the World.seconds code block. The nugget though is that it brought up an error message at the end even though it kind of worked to help improve the sound issues, it slowed down the sound and made it comprehensible and pleasant sounding at the very least. Can you please take a look at her Winning and Losing page code to give us some assistance here as we continue to try to solve this winning/losing page problem? Thanks. The project simulation of her project code is here in Gamelab. Thank you

We are trying to create a winning and losing screen with specific finale sound clips assigned to each of them. The issue is that after the if statement enters the phase of those states it loops the sound into a frenetic distortion that plays forever and sounds terrible. We tried the code from Elizabeth to stop it and could not get it to stop the phenomenon.

If you play the code it also helps to see in real-time. If you want I can remove the World.seconds block and then resend the link for you to experience the difference. Please let me know if you want me to do that? There is a big difference in the quality of the ending pages going back to being distorted.

RESULTS The goal was to try to bounce the final page to a function that does not contain a sound clip to bounce the sound clip to a STOP page. I am trying anything at this point, however, the game sound clip kept playing on distorted loop as usual at the end.

In addition, use var soundPlay = true; to turn off the looping of the underwater sounds in draw loop the middle of the game. Also, carefully layer the middle stop sound blocks in sequence so that the sound clips do not run into each other.

@melynn The work your class did over Spring break will pay off for many other classes because it was a God send for fixing this problem. You are being modest, because it was by no means super simple. It does not exist in the code.org documentation, it is a creative new way of using soundPlay = soundPlay+1; to create a sort of playSound seconds in an if statement to create a brand new solution of limiting time on sound loops.

This is the first time I have found this type of code on any forum, I have looked through all the other forums threads on stopping sound loops - and I am so thankful I found this! It is complex and requires a double layer of nested if statements. The way you demonstrated it in a simple way was helpful it will likely help other classes in the future.

I got the Stomp a few days ago and I've been trying to hook it up and set it up but to no avail. Can't seem to get it to work in the effects loop of my amplifier. I hope you guys can point me in the right direction! Normally I would use the L/R main output, but these are already going to my speaker monitors...

Now I can't for the life of me figure out how to also put in in the effects loop of my amp for its effects as well as preamp. Where do I plug in the effects send from my amp? Where do I take it back out into the effects return of the amp? How do I then set this up in the Helix software?

I'm trying to do this with the send/return jacks though, as the L/R main outputs are already in use for my monitor speakers. Maybe even using the phones out. Just can't use the main L/R as those are in use for the monitors.

I will try your suggestion of plugging straight into the Helix though instead of the ABY box, so thank you for that. This would free up the ABY box to split the stereo send for my amp return + rocksmith, potentially.

Creating presets using Stomp's send as output worked! Thanks so much for that tip. Is there a difference here between having a Send L block in path A vs. dragging everything down to path B? Either way I get a slight bleeding still in path A (I still get a little bit of sound through main L/R when I thought I sent it all to send).

Other that that, I figured out all the connections! This really is an incredible piece of technology. I forgot that my ABY box also has a tuner out, so I just hooked that up to Rocksmith. A to my amp, B to the Stomp, Tuner to my computer Rocksmith cable. On the Helix Main L/R are to speaker monitors, my amp send goes into aux in (had to change this in the global settings), and Send is to my amp return. Like I said, except for that bleed in the A path it's working.

I'd just like to say that all the problems are now solved! I found out why I had a "bleed" despite using the send; it was due to wrongfully having the "return" set to aux in. As a result I continued to hear the unprocessed signal through my monitors!

- you CAN use the HX stomp simultaneously as 1) interface for monitor speakers 2) amp modeler and effects unit for an amplifier and 3) direct recording and monitoring in conjunction with rocksmith. You DO need an ABY box though with 3 outputs.

- A little counter-intuitively perhaps, but the HX stomp "send" has to be used by using send block or dragging down to the send path for the amplfier effect loopt return, and the "return/aux in" has to be used to receive the effects loop send from the amp, and this has to be set to "return".

I recently purchased a FX effect unit and really like everything it can do. I'm running 4cm into a Hughes and Kettner tubemeister 36 head. As I'm building a scene, i get the distortion from the HX effect dialed in. As I add to the signal chain and place the effects loop (after the distortion) the sound becomes thin, almost like a am radio. If I turn the loop off i get the original sound. Am I missing something on the set up? I have a comp, Distortion, fx loop, chorus, delay, and noise gate. Other than using snapshots to turn the loop on only when I want the amps distortion, am i missing something in the set up?

I checked the settings and the effect loop block was at 100%. The distortion still sounds like a am radio when the loop in on. When I turn it off they sound great. Has anyone else experienced this problem or have a remedy for it?

I have my setup in the traditional 4cm ...HX Fx send to tubemeister guitar in.....HX FX return to amps FX send....HX FX send to amps FX return and guitar into the mono input. The loop in my amp is on , the amp is on the clean channel and the HX effect chain the blocks are in the following order: compressor, distortion, FX loop, chorus, delay and noise gate. If the HX effect loop is off the distortion (from the HX effect) sounds fine. As soon as the loop is active the sound gets thin and harsh. The effect loop on my amp remains on at all times, and as expected if i shut the HX effect loop block off, i can only get the power section of the amp, not the preamp distortion

Thanks.... the chain looks like it is setup correctly... but I think I see the problem. The entire point of using 4cm is to include your amp in the sound. You didn't do that when setting up your sounds.

If you setup all of your overdrives with the loop off then you didn't include your amp in the tone! You have to get a good tone from your amp, then build your sounds around that... not the other way around.

I realize this is an old topic but I am experiencing this same issue. All my drives sound Amazingwithout an Effects loop Block. Once I add the effect loop the sound goes to tin can? I am playing on the Helix HX EFFECTS. 4cm through a EVH 5150III 50 watt head and 212 matching cab. If I place a volume pedal at the end if my chain I can control the volume without the loop. EVH doesn't have a master volume. I have attached photos to show what I mean with the loop off and volume pedal on the effects and distortions sound amazing. Cut off the volume and activate the loop and it's tiny am radio sounding like OP stated? Any suggestions ? I am wired correctly in 4cm.

I cannot check, if the newest GarageBand will install any loops with effects, because I have many JamPacks and other music apps installed, and it is hard to say what has been installed by which application. If you type "dog" into the search field in the Loop browser, do you see any effects at all? Make sure, you have the preference > Loops > filter for more relevant results disabled. And the drop-downmenu at the top of the Loop Browser set to "All Loops".

iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand have previously be sold together as bundled applications "iLife". That is why the previous versions in the iLife '11 bundles are named GarageBand '11 version 6.0.5, iPhoto '11 version 9.5, etc. The iLife sound effects were part of the bundle, because iMovie '11 needed them. You can see, if you have a previous installation of iLife, if the Loop Browser has "iLife Sound Effects" in the drop down menu at the top of of the brower.
