I just heard a very wonderful message from Srila Prabhupad through a lecture that I was listening to and was compelled to share this with you all.
Once a devotee approached Srila Prabhupad and asked, how to improve Vaishnava relationships. Srila Prabhupad said ‘Get up early in the morning’. The devotee was surprised and was scratching his head, he was thinking, infact when we sleep we have better relations as we do not disturb each other. Srila Prabhupad explained that when you get up early, you attend Mangala arati and morning program, you are gradually purifying the influence of mode of passion and ignorance and you come to the stage of mode of goodness. And when you are purified in the mode of goodness, you come to the transcendental stage and you will be purified from false ego. Therefore, he said, get up in the morning….
