About the Utsav:
As this auspicious tidings signify the movement from Dakshinayana to Uttarayana, from Surya's southern run to northern run from Sadhana Pada to Kaivalya Pada. This auspicious time reflects the time of profound spirituality for a new beginning. The New Beginning is one that is fresh, signifying positive energy and that also which signifies dropping the negativities, hence the festival of Bhogi preceding a day earlier to Makara Sankranti which symbolizes burning of old things in the house.
This festival is of utmost importance across different parts of Bharat and celebrated by Hindus numerous ways culturally religously and spiritually. It is also a festival of Harvest and Thanksgiving to our peasants, pashu, pakshi who have helped mankind to maintain the ecological balance of nature. This reminds us collectively and individually to maintain harmony with Prakriti.
This festival also assumes significance for individual self spiritually to let go of baggage of inertia or 'Tamas' component and work towards the increase of Saatvik component.
As the day time increases, as Hindus it is our duty to maintain ecological order and collectively engage in furthering our responsibilities towards family and society.
Dhanyavaad
