Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) - South & Central New Jersey
HSS invites you and your family on the occasion of Vijayadashami (Dussehra) Festival!
Vijayadashami is the culmination of the Navaratri (nine nights) and marks the day when Devi Durga killed Mahishasur and Sri Ram vanquished Ravan. It was on this day that the Pandavas ended their period of disguise and took out their hidden weapons from the Shami tree.
Celebration of Vijayadashami symbolizes the Victory of Dharma over Adharma.
Keeping the special significance of this day in the Hindu tradition, Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar founded the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Vijayadashami day in 1925 at Nagpur. This year’s event will start with Shastra puja (Arms worship). We will have the display of physical activities like synchronized yoga, dand (stick maneuvers), yogchap (lezim) and marching band by all NJ swayamsevaks, sevikas and Pataka Yog by children!
