Most of the jokes are either juvenile, mean-spirited or toilet humor and I didn't laugh at most of them. All of the plots are stupid, even the ones with interesting premises. There are a lot of unnecessary references to the first two movies which doesn't make sense because it's a prequel. Why is it called Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs? It has nothing to do with clouds and meatballs. Maybe call it Flint Lockwood: The Younger Years or something? Animation is okay, it looks like the movies but sometimes ugly and more obnoxious to watch than the movies. The new voice actors do a decent job trying to sound like the originals although sometimes the voices can sound fake like the times where Flint cries.

This movie could give you the chance to talk with your children about real-life attitudes and behaviours such as school bullying and teasing, and greed. You could also talk about the importance of healthy eating.
