Hello,

I hope you are doing well as we embark on a new year.

Thank you for your willingness to assist me as I study what motivates neighborhood association board members to serve. My goal with this project is to strengthen the democratic participation in Portland by discovering effective ways to recruit and retain volunteers.

You can assist this effort by doing the following:

• Sign up to be a participant for a one-hour interview by clicking here.
• Share the attached flyer and interest form with your NA board member colleagues.
• Invite me to your neighborhood association board meeting for 20 minutes to present my research goals and recruit  participants.

As a token of my appreciation, interview participants will receive $20 or can opt to have it donated to their neighborhood association. At the end of the project, all participants will receive a report that outlines my findings and practical recommendations on how to recruit and retain board members and other volunteers.
