Hi Everybody,
I'm sending this email from a place of compassion, confusion and respect for the KNA. I have made several mistakes. I'm terribly sorry that I did not understand, since our last meeting, what is going on with this month's location. I'm sure it seems from the other board member's POV, that I'm doing everything possible to not have the meeting be Zoom only. That isn't the case at all.Â
Here's the series of events that has happened, from my perspective:
1. I got back in town from a 2 week vacation in Kentucky about 24 hours before the October meeting. As you can imagine, I was exhausted from the flight.
2. It was announced that we couldn't have our November meeting at the school
3. We talked about our other options in the meeting
4. I posted on Instagram, on the grid, that our next meeting location was to be announced. That post has been up since October 18, with no follow up post letting people know where the meeting is
5. I thought that we had an in person meeting once a month. I had no idea that would change because we can't have it at the school. I thought the goal was to find a place to have the November meeting. I was wrong.
6. When I received the email to have the meeting take place on Zoom, I thought that was a last resort. I was wrong.
7. When I spoke with Rick at Vino, and Matt at Bennett's Best Bites, I thought I was doing what we all wanted to do. I thought this because this is what I understood from our last meeting. I was wrong.
8. When I spoke with Matt a few days ago, I asked him if we could have the meeting there, he said yes. I told him that we appreciated it, and we would see him on the 19th. I was wrong.Â
9. I posted on IG and FB that we were having our meeting at Bennett's because I saw a number, a vote count, on an email. I thought that was the only, and last vote count. I posted that we would be having the meeting at Bennett's Best Bites. I was wrong. Once it was pointed out to me that not everyone had voted, I immediately removed those announcement posts. Now, Matt is under the belief that we're all going to be there on the 19th because I told him that. I was wrong, and I have to fix it sooner than later.
I'm not at all trying to force anyone to meet anywhere. I'm happy to take part in a Zoom call meeting. But, I feel an obligation to create a follow up post, saying where- in person, or virtually- we are having the meeting. Otherwise, our community won't know. I understand if the board does not feel that same urgency.Â
Follow up question:
Have we voted, and if so what is the resolution?Â
Again, I don't have an agenda here. I'm not trying to boss anyone around. I didn't understand that we have some of our meetings 100% virtually. I'd love to hear from Jay, our President, for specific instructions on how to proceed. I apologize for everything, it was never my intention to force anyone to come in person to the last meeting of the year.
I'll make sure nothing like this ever happens again.
Thank you,
