Greetings, 

 

The Police Bureau’s Behavioral Health Unit will be hosting a crisis training, presenting fundamentals on how to respond to a subject who is in mental health or drug induced crisis. Being able to remain calm and diffuse a crisis will ensure we are equipping our community as they await police, Portland Street Response, or refer individuals to services.  In addition to curriculum, our licensed clinicians and sworn personnel who have undergone significant training, will welcome questions and conversation.  As we have heard consistent concerns from business and neighborhood associations, we are limiting attendees to members of your association.  Due to capacity/demand, we are also requesting that no more than three individuals attend from each association, hoping that techniques will be passed on through a train-the-trainer concept.
