Hi All,
Please find my talk proposal for the kernel meetup Blr, December 2025.

Talk Title:

Scale-Up & Scale-Out Semantics for GPU Connectivity Across UALink, UEC & ESUN — The Emerging Alternative to NVLink

Abstract:
High-performance AI and HPC workloads are rapidly outgrowing traditional GPU interconnects. While NVIDIA’s NVLink has dominated tightly coupled GPU communication, new open standards—PCIe Gen6/7, CXL 3.0+, and the emerging UALink GPU fabric—are now redefining how accelerators scale in both Scale-Up (intra-node) and Scale-Out (multi-node) environments.
This talk presents a structured model using UALink (UAL), UEC, and ESUN to explain scaling semantics for GPU fabrics: how the system decides when to scale vertically (bandwidth, shared memory domains, cache-coherent access) versus horizontally (multi-GPU pooling, fabric switching, distributed inference).
Attendees will learn how open, vendor-neutral interconnects can offer a portable and scalable alternative to NVLink for future GPU clusters.

Preferred Format: 25+5 mins (but open for Lightning talk as well for selection)

Speaker:
Krishna is currently a Principal Engineer at Upscale AI (https://upscaleai.com/), where he leads the ASIC-side software design for scale-up and scale-out networking. Previously, he was a kernel developer at IBM-LTC, contributed to the CXL bring-up initiative. Before that, he worked in the Oracle Linux Engineering group for the Oracle Linux Kernel team. At Cisco Systems, he developed an ARM-based, proprietary Cisco bootloader from scratch for both the Linux Kernel and FreeRTOS. At Nutanix, he served as a subject matter expert for the kernel block and network layers. He also contributed to Pavilion Data Systems, working on the world’s fastest NVMe-over-Fabric product line. Krishna has approximately 19 years of IT experience.

Best regards,
Krishna

Hello everyone,

Is this meetup have online access aswell ? If yes, please share the link to join.

If any such amazing developer mailing groups are available for Hyderabad, i would love to be a part of it. Please share with me if anyone already part of Hyderabad group/ or have those groups mailing list.

Thanks in advance..

Regards,
Sri Raj .K
