I can get midi working on cyntcart and sidwizard , I play notes and get sound etc, all good BUT!

if I start the sidwizard version on the emulated drive 9 of the file browser... I can't get midi to work , I do exactly the same things as I do in sidwizard when I start it from the direct slot ... I configure the midi interface and load an instrument but nothing happens when I play keys win my midi keyboard.

I also have this other different issue, in another bread bin, older production , the version of file wizard included in the file browser will crash after depicting

I think I used a different MIDI emulation for the file browser. Try DATEL instead of NAMESOFT.

The crash with the older C64 model with the file browser could be because the KERNAL hack to replace the file functions is pretty tricky from the timing, and the file functions are still experimental, so might not work on all C64 models. I would recommend to buy an extra SD2IEC for file operations, they are not expensive, and use the Kerberos cartridge just for storing programs in the slots for fast start, and for MIDI in/out.

thanks or quick reply , indeed selecting DATEL works , but now I have another issue, the instruments all load like garbage and they don't produce any sound, or produce crazy RD2D in drugs noises

although loading the example tunes works , I can play the tune and play the tune instruments with the midi keyboard, but loading new instruments always results in garbage ...

to me it's very important to get this drive emulation thing working cause I purchased 3 kerberos interfaces for my recording studio in which I installed many C64... I would not   have to buy 3 sidecs... :-/ ... I have already one but... this emulation thing is so convenient
