The Keralakavita function at Edappal generally went off well. Most of the expected participants came including Zachariah; KGS had to go to Bangalore urgently to meet a lung specialist and hence could not come, D Vinayachandran read a poem and launched the issue. The reading session went off well too. Generally the atmosphere was relaxed and informal. The morning discussion on the parallel developments in poetry and short fiction was good as a public event, but lacked the kind of subtlety that we had expected and was not as text- and form-specific as we had wanted.My feeling is the presence of a sizeable audience unconsciously persuaded the writers to perform and hence the intimate and informal the conversation did not happen; instead it looked like a series of monologues.Some valid points did emerge, but they were not adequately carried forward. One lesson we learnt from this was such discussions can happen only privately, without an audience as we did it at Arangottukara. We were of course skeptical to begin with , only our final decision to have the audience misfired. We will send the transcript to the participants plus a few other chosen writers and critics and publish it s a symposium and not a conversation.
Some good suggestions have also emerged from the discussion on Kerala kavita. One is the corpus fund to which more contributions from our friends as well as from the poets and readers in the Gulf countries can be invited; the second is to get more advts; the third is subscriptions,the fourth is persuading Granthashalasangham to do a bulk purchase. ( Prof Achyuthanunni also suggested approaching NBS for distribution, but we are not generally convinced as NBS is weak when it comes to distribution despite the presence of so many branches- but this can be an option in case others fail. 33 copies were sold during the function,PPRamachandran has taken 20 copies hoping to sell them through on-line requests at harithakam.com and I am carrying 25 copies to Thrissur tomorrow to be handed over to PNGopikrishnan to be sold to friends / through book stalls. If the drive suceeds we may think of converting KK into a half-yearly with more support from friends offered to Priyadas.

ഇന്നത്തെ പരിപാടിയുടെ ഒരു നല്ല സംഗ്രഹമാണ് മാഷ് എഴുതിയത്. തീര്‍ച്ചയായും സംവാദങ്ങള്‍ ഇനിമേലിലെങ്കിലും സദസ്യര്‍ക്കുമുമ്പാകെ ചെയ്യുന്നതാവില്ല നല്ലത്. ആറങ്ങോട്ടുകരയിലെപ്പോലെ സ്വകാര്യമായിരിക്കണം. എങ്കിലേ നൈസര്‍ഗ്ഗികവും അനൌപചാരികവുമാവൂ. എന്റ വ്യക്തിപരമായ അഭിപ്രായത്തില്‍ ഇന്നത്തെ ചര്‍ച്ചാവിഷയത്തിന് കൃത്യത ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. മാത്രമല്ല വ്യാപ്തി വലുതുമായിരുന്നു. അതിനാല്‍ സൂക്ഷ്മത ഇല്ലാതെ പോയി. എനിക്കു തോന്നുന്നത്, ഇത് എഴുതി എടുക്കുന്നതിനേക്കാള്‍ ഇനി നന്നാവുക, പങ്കെടുത്തവരോട് ഒരു ചോദ്യാവലി നല്‍കി, അഭിപ്രായം എഴുതിവാങ്ങുന്നതായിരിക്കും.
എന്‍.പ്രഭാകരന്‍, കെ.ജി.എസ്, ദേശമംഗലം, ആറ്റൂര്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവരൊഴികെ (ആരോഗ്യപരമായ കാരണങ്ങളാല്‍,) എല്ലാവരും (നമ്മള്‍ പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കാത്തവരടക്കം) സ്വമേധയാ എടപ്പാളില്‍ എത്തിച്ചേര്‍ന്നത് കേരളകവിതയുടെ വിജയം തന്നെയാണ്.
കേരളകവിതയുടെ പ്രൊഡക്ഷന്‍ നല്ല നിലവാരം പുലര്‍ത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. വില 150 രൂപ എന്നു നിശ്ചയിച്ചത് കുറവായിപ്പോയി എന്നാണ് എന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം. 200 രൂപയെങ്കിലും വാങ്ങണമായിരുന്നു. നല്ല മേനിക്കടലാസ്സ്. പ്രിന്റിങ്. ഉള്ളടക്കത്തില്‍ കവികളെ ഭാഗങ്ങളായി വേര്‍തിരിച്ചത് നന്നായില്ല. ഇത് ആക്ഷേപത്തിന് ഇടയാക്കും.
കേരളകവിതയ്ക്ക് ഒരു ഓണ്‍ലൈന്‍ എഡിഷന്‍ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കുറിച്ച ആലോചിക്കണം. ഇ-ബുക്ക് ആയും വിതരണം ചയ്യാനാവും. സാമ്പ്രദായിക പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണരീതികളില്‍നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി ചിന്തിക്കാന്‍ നാം തയ്യാറാവണം. പണിക്കര്‍ സാര്‍ ഉണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ അങ്ങനെ ആലോചിച്ചേനേ എന്നുപോലും തോന്നുന്നു.
