In the past, having onsite security for offices might have been enough, but now that most businesses are operating online, protection against cyberthreats is an essential part of business continuity planning.
To help protect users, Avast detects and immediately reports suspicious files or behavior. This state-of-the-art infrastructure and access to an immense amount of security data gathered from millions of devices around the globe has created our advanced threat detection network. Plus, it allows us to provide zero-day protection.
Our cutting-edge technology transforms our users into a worldwide network of cooperating sensors. If any one of them encounters malware, Avast uses 6 layers of protection to help identify, block, and inform the entire network in a matter of seconds.
Antivirus is an umbrella term. It is a program composed of multiple features that each protect a different part of your endpoint device (email, browser, files, etc.). However, not all antivirus products have everything it takes to fully protect your device so further protection may be necessary. That may mean setting up specific server protection, manually updating operating systems, and other additional tasks.
The basis of endpoint security is the same for consumers and businesses. However, the type and structure of protected data is different. Businesses store not only their own data, but also sensitive information about their clients, employees, and the business itself.
A set of rules defining the level of security that each device connected to the business network must comply with. These rules may include using an approved operating system (OS), installing a virtual private network (VPN), or running up-to-date antivirus software. If the device connecting to the network does not have the desired level of protection, it may have to connect via a guest network and have limited network access.

Those parameters didn't work, and when run avastclear.exe it states it must be started in Safe Mode. To get around this I loaded the Administrative Console and went to properties on the policy setup for the workstations. Scroll down the list and found "Troubleshooting" and disabled "self protect".
Endpoint security software comprises antivirus, which identifies and removes viruses and other malware, as well as tools that offer extra layers of security around sensitive files and programs. Read on to learn more about why endpoint protection is so important to your business.
With so many companies making use of phones and tablets in addition to laptops, even a small business can easily have dozens of endpoints in their network. While mobile devices can provide great flexibility and cost savings, each new endpoint connected to the network also increases risk.
Endpoints can be targeted by cybercriminals, and the more endpoints there are, the larger the attack surface of a network. Many devices on a network increase the likelihood for bad actors to find one that is vulnerable. Simply going from device to device, an attacker can quickly find the weakest link (i.e. their easiest point of entry) in a network.
Cybercriminals target endpoint devices for many reasons. Phones, tablets, and laptops can contain valuable data about your business or sensitive customer information. Malware can potentially steal this data from those devices. Once in the wrong hands, it can then be sold on the black market or used to perform further attacks through phishing.
Phishing is one of the most common ways for bad actors to target endpoints. Phishing attacks emulate legitimate emails or websites, tricking victims into entering or sending back sensitive information or credentials.
When operating system and web browser makers discover vulnerabilities in their products, they send out security updates to patch them. However, zero-day exploits target undiscovered vulnerabilities that do not have a patch yet. Without a premium endpoint antivirus and security solution, even devices with the latest security updates are vulnerable.
The most important reason to get an endpoint security solution is that a compromised device can leave the rest of the network vulnerable. Once a device is infected, it is easy for sophisticated malware to identify and spread through business networks.
Network security is an essential component of endpoint protection solutions. Endpoint security provides a safety net for your network, protecting the weakest links and stopping malware infections in their tracks.
Because of these additional features, endpoint protection solutions are better able to protect against a variety of threats, including ransomware attacks and phishing scams, that often have an easy time getting through traditional antivirus.
Protecting devices and stopping threats before they can spread to the rest of the network significantly reduces the chances of a wider infection of ransomware or other malware within a business network. Endpoint security complements existing security solutions, such as password protection or email filters, and helps fill in gaps.
The three-tiered anti-virus offering, which combines technology from both AVG and Avast portfolios, is broken down into Avast Business Antivirus, Avast Business Antivirus Pro, and Avast Business Antivirus Pro Plus. Each offering includes increasing amounts of security protections, ranging from full endpoint protection for file, email, web, spam, Wi-Fi inspection and more with the Avast Business Antivirus offering, to also include identity protection, password management, and data protection services for the higher-tiered offerings.
Avast also announced three new management offerings to its Avast Business portfolio. Avast Business CloudCare allows for Avast Business Antivirus Pro Plus to be available as a security subscription managed through the CloudCare web-based security portal. The company also announced the Avast Business Management Console, which allows for centralized management and updates of all Avast endpoint solutions, and the Avast Business Managed Workplace for remote monitoring and management, endpoint protection management, and site security assessment.
The brand launch comes as the endpoint security market hits an inflection point, shifting away from traditional, signature-based antivirus to next-generation endpoint security technologies. Sykes said Avast faces a challenge of awareness when it comes to the endpoint security market, calling it a "best kept secret" when it comes to the company's business portfolio. He said much of the company's channel investment will focus on educating partners not only on the technology, but also the company's new brand and offerings.
During July and August 2022 we continuously evaluated 20 home user security products using their default settings. We always used the most current publicly-available version of all products for the testing. They were allowed to update themselves at any time and query their in-the-cloud services. We focused on realistic test scenarios and challenged the products against real-world threats. Products had to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers.
This incorporation will automate and simplify the patch remediation process. This component of the Avast CloudCare layered security platform enables small businesses and managed security service providers to take advantage of enterprise-grade app protection on a budget, alongside endpoint protection, cloud backup and network security.
Ivanti patch management technology for OEM partners, marketed as Ivanti Security Controls SDK, is provided to partners through a series of SDKs that allow rapid integration of a complete patch management solution into existing security solutions. These SDKs cover the patch management lifecycle from endpoint assessment to patch packaging to patch deployment. This allows Avast Business to deliver a full application security solution with patch content that covers Windows OS, MacOS and Linux variants as well as thousands of third-party applications.
