Hi Team,

Throwing this out to you for some thoughts.

In reviewing the system with NASCOP and CDC last evening, they asked when we would format the 711 and 731 reports generated to look 'like' the actual paper reports.

Wondering whether this is something we can be looking at on the side as we prepare for the next dev cycle.

Regards, Patrick

Hi Patrick

For the 731 we're generating indicators for 1 of the 6 sections but we have an Excel file which looks that that part of the complete paper report. If we made it look like the whole report we'd have a lot of blank indicators.

For the 711 we currently have no Excel version at all and we're only generating indicators for 2 of the 12 sections. Would the want something that looks like a complete 711 even if we can only fill in data for 2 sections? The paper version of that report is very complex.

Hi Rowan,

No. We wouldn't want to do an entire report format but only a formatting of the sections we are currently representing.

Rowan,

They are only interested in the Care and treatment and TB  section so you do not have to generate a report for the sections we are not reporting on.

I just updated the MOH731 to look more like the paper and noticed that the template isn't including some of the indicators that we are now calculating. I've fixed this and you can see the newly formatted report with all indicators on the dev server at

Making a similar template for the MOH711 would be a little tricker because the layout is more complex and won't be easy to mimic in Excel, but could hopefully be done in 1-2 dev days.

Patrick:

We saw that coming huh, once Rowan advices what it will take to get it done, maybe these are some of those clearly defined tasks that we can build internships around, or even get someone who understands KenyaEMR to quickly do it. I wonder if FACES already have these well formatted reports and if those are reusable.

Rowan,

Apart from the excel template, is it also possible to format the report within the application screen?

It would be a lot of work to do that and get anything close to the paper form. The online view is just a view of the data, and the Excel view is that data placed into a template. If we wanted to make another renderer to provide an online view similar to the paper then we'd need another kind of template that matches the paper. That would seem like a duplication of effort if the Excel template is supposed to be the thing that matches the paper.

As your format why cant you also consider to introduce checks and balances to validate both tools. As you go through both tools about 50% of indicators are alike so let one tool be independent of another like MOH 105 in DHIS where some cells auto-generate themselves
thanks
