1)  
Wildlife Crime Tech Challenge

 

The Wildlife Crime Tech Challenge will award up to four Grand Prizes worth between $100,000 and $500,000 to applicants with the most impactful and scalable solutions to combat wildlife trafficking. 

 

We are seeking ideas from all stages of innovation that apply to both marine and terrestrial wildlife.

2) Global Learning XPRIZE Challenge

The challenge:  Develop new learning solutions to empower children and communities around the world.

The $15 million Global Learning XPRIZE is a competition that challenges teams from around the world to develop open source scalable software solution that will enable children in developing countries to teach themselves basic reading, writing and arithmetic within the 18 month competition field-testing period.

 

The $15 million dollar prize will be awarded as follows:

  • Five finalists:  $1 million each will be awarded by the Judging Panel to teams with the best proposed solutions.
  • Grand prize winner: $10 million will be awarded to the top performing team solution based on the field testing of the teams.

3) Apply now! WSA 2015 calls for Digital Creativity & Innovation with Smart Local Relevance

 

The World Summit Award promotes smart content for smart people. On a biennial basis, it awards e-Content that contributes to a true knowledge society and promotes it at a global congress.

 

The World Summit Award (WSA) is the global follow-up initiative of the United Nations World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) organised by the International Center for New Media (ICNM), Salzburg, Austria. It partners with the key UN organisations and agencies in the framework of the UN Geneva Agenda and the Tunis Action Plan and selects and promotes the world's best e-Content and innovative ICT applications; to date more than 160 countries are actively involved.

 

Participation in the WSA is possible via national contests or expert panel selection. The national winners in the eight WSA categories are submitted by the  Eminent Expert from each country based on the process agreed upon with the WSA Board of Directors. In the absence of an open national contest, Eminent Experts conduct a national selection panels or other consultation in order to select in an objective and fair manner the best from their countries.

4) Ernest & Young (EY) Vantage Program
  

The EY Vantage Program is a corporate responsibility initiative through which EY advisers provide custom support and mentorship services to high-impact Endeavor Entrepreneurs. EY employees participating in the program often spend six to eight weeks of their time working with entrepreneurs in addressing key business challenges through critical stages of growth, offering access to EY's global network of resources, skills and talent.

 

Since the EY Vantage Program launched in 2005, EY Vantage Advisors have supported nearly 120 entrepreneurs in countries across Africa, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Latin America.

EY Vantage Advisors work with the entrepreneur, tackling key challenges impacting the growth of the business, and by doing so are contributing to transformational change.

 

Top-performing EY professionals apply to the program and are chosen through a rigorous selection process. Those selected are matched with high-impact entrepreneurs away from their home countries, giving them the opportunity to work outside of their comfort zones.

5) Huawei and She Leads Africa (SLA) have opened applications for a week long innovation tour to Shenzhen and Shangai China, for top young women building technology companies across Africa.

 

The partnership provides the women an opportunity to visit Huawei HQ, China and receive behind the scenes experience with Huawei, network with peer entrepreneurs and develop relationships with investors /companies interested in doing business on the continent.

"In August 2015 a select group of Africa's most promising young female technology entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to participate on an innovation exchange to China. This is a result of an exciting partnership between She Leads Africa and Huawei Technologies Ltd," Huawei said in a press release.

 

Applicants must be women between the ages of 18-40  who are building technology business focused on Africa.

6)Global Hackathon Seoul Search  for Africa's Top developers begins 

  

Global Hackathon Seoul has launched its global application in search of talented developers from across the globe. The event is coordinated by organizers working worldwide (including in Nigeria) to create a thriving environment that encourages and stimulates positive impact.


GHS serves as a global gathering place for ambitious software developers to discuss creative new ideas, create unique innovations, and drive social and technological change. The event takes place in Seoul from July 29 to August 1, 2015.

International travel costs will be covered by GHS for all accepted applicants.


GHS is very keen to meet with hackathon directors and startup/tech-hub managers in Africa, India and New Zealand. Any persons from these regions should kindly reach them through their ambassadors or directly via in...@globalhackathon.io
