A piece of advice for the "marauding Knights"always plant the two Stallions at the centre of the BOARD on a support outpost on each other.
This allows them to spread its Tentacles across the Board.
It can check this kind of MAULING from the likes of lion king in future.

I have this strange feeling about the 2011 Nairobi Chess League.

Two things have happened which make me suspicious that CK is going to send me a letter of complaint about the event...........

Let them send it .

Marauding Knights have two very good players Andrew Mumia and Crispus Kamau but they seem to have difficulty winning.  Perhaps experience in team events is lacking?

I expect them in the next season to come back with a bang..

Kim,
NCC League is the only thing happening in Kenyan chess rite now as our
CK 'stewards' keep snoring.
Take your trumpet and blow it loud, if you have a second I'll give you
a hand.

It is a pity in one way that I have been so busy.  The sponsor who promised money has not come through which is a pity as I have an almost 100% record of asking for money for chess and getting it.

I intend to send letters for next years league which must start in Jan and finish by Mar 2012.  Singe and Competition committee please note.

If you can monitor & tap their talent, the better. How old are these LADS?they could produce what many of us failed deliver......with CK don't pick a fight with them, but I doubt if anybody will try and sabotage or Intimidate your work into submission. As your Intention has always been for the good of Chess. If CK is harrasing you is because they are stuck with plan A-that is not active.

Looking @ STEVE's Easter Tournament-whether boycotts or no boycotts,I see the tourney with a DEFECT in what players are expected to play per day,I.e FOUR rounds a day is just Inconceivable for a serious chess player, unless its a Rapid play-my view is FOUR rounds a day in a qualifying tournament could go against the laid down structures of chess.....is it the TOURNEY CK is measuring for AAG qualification?.

We hate to have some people give us advice because we know how badly they need it themselves. The knights were able to escape the from wrath of the lions with their ego unscathed n they will live to fight the lions another day...i respect the lions theirs was a convincing win.

Kim:

Thanks for the update. The last thing you should be worrying about is a letter from CK. That's all they are good at anyway. They should consider offering private tuitions for letter-writing.

With a new association in a place, you will suddenly find yourself surrounded with a lot of support. Probably even TV reporters and cameramen. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Just check in India there was a new body that was formed - not sure what happened to the story in the end....

Apparently the story does not have an end. The official body is called the All India Chess Federation and their calendar (http://www.indianchessfed.org/tournamentcalendar.asp) seems to be quite busy as is that one of the alternative 'renegade' Chess Association of India (http://www.indiachess.org/).

Also, it seems that the World Chess Federation (http://wcfchess.com/aboutus.aspx) which is the international alternative to FIDE automatically recognised CAI without them even having to apply. Read the article here: http://bit.ly/dMCDRM.

Do I see the future of Kenyan chess in the current chess scenario of India? I think so! Soli, I hope you are reading this.

We had already forumated on this last year with Dr. Shabaaz also weighing in with his wise opinion. World Chess Federation is a shady organisation which you wouldn't want to be associated with. Plus the dynamics of India as a country bear no resemblance to Kenya. I travel there about every two years or so and chess is like everywhere. Every third or fourth household has a chessboard. There are loads of coffee house players. But remember India has a devolved system of government i.e majimboism which means each state gets a chance to take care of its own chess affairs with the national body basically just coordinating things. Unlike kenya, the national body there cannot bully private organisers and this means there are lots of local clubs doing there thing and not affiliated with the national body. But you need lots of chess players for such a scenario to work out in Kenya. Chessplayers should take full advantage of devolution once it gets implemented in the country next year. It can be the antidote to CK if players are smart. But don't cheat yourself. Kenyan players are the daftest.
