APALSA Constitution & Other Important News

Hi everyone,

I hope your summers are keeping you busy!

Please read on for very important news.

As we move into our second year, it is important that we have a constitution to frame our actions/decisions as we move forward.  Indeed, Chicago-Kent requires a constitution for student organizations, and that all members have receive a copy.

I have drafted a Constitution & Bylaws that is attached and open for your review.  The documents will also be posted on our google-groups page.  According to my minimal knowledge, I believe this may be our chapter's first constitution.  (Former officers, please correct me if this is not true).

As such, this process should be as open, transparent, and fair as possible.  A clause in the drafted constitution & bylaws states that a call for a ratification-meeting be made among all members.  Once we have a majority response during the call period, we will have established sufficient quorum to begin the meeting.  

**The ratification meeting will take place ONLINE over a span of 12 days on our APALSA google-groups forum.  During these ten days, members may approve, reject, request to modify, ask for more details, or pose questions.**

 If a majority of members do not respond to establish quorum to begin the meeting on the specified days, the constitution/bylaws state that a combined majority of last year's board and this year's new board is sufficient to establish quorum.

So it is important to respond if you would like to participate in this important process.

2. The Ratification Meeting will take place in all hours between 6/10/2009- 6/22/2009.  The meeting will end at Midnight.

Hi Dave!

I can tell you've put a lot of thought and effort into this!! You're
doing really great!!!

EVerything looks good to me, so I'm putting in my vote to ratify.
It's weird, but I don't have a "reply all" option like you had
mentioned. Hope the replying to you is good enough!

Hope you haven't been too stressed this summer. Don't forget to have
fun :)
