A community heritage website - formally recognised by The National
Library of Wales as 'An important part of Wales' documentary
heritage' - the website documents the entire history of the Old
Kenfig Borough or Old Bro Cynffig in South Wales. The website is being
archived within The National Library of Wales' permanent collections
as well as through The UK Web Archiving Consortium.
The website is an online educational resource used to aide the
teaching of local history studies which forms a part of the National
Curriculum (Curriculum Cymreig in Wales) and is listed on Wales on the
Web Curriculum Cymreig Guide as an e-Resource for these purposes. The
website is run as a not for profit organisation within the Bridgend
County Borough known as Kenfig.org Local Community Group and is funded
by the Welsh Assembly Government and Bridgend County Borough Council.
This group has been set up to encourage the learning and sharing of
knowledge and information on all aspects of the Kenfig and surrounding
areas. We welcome topical debates and would like to encourage members
of the local communities to add their own experiences and help the
overall Kenfig.org website - it is your heritage after all that we are
preserving through this online website project.
