The version field inside of the Chart.yaml is used by many of theHelm tools, including the CLI and the Tiller server. When generating apackage, the helm package command will use the version that it findsin the Chart.yaml as a token in the package name. The system assumesthat the version number in the chart package name matches the version number inthe Chart.yaml. Failure to meet this assumption will cause an error.
The chart can also contain a short plain text templates/NOTES.txt file that will be printed outafter installation, and when viewing the status of a release. This file is evaluated as atemplate, and can be used to display usage notes, next steps, or any otherinformation relevant to a release of the chart. For example, instructions could be provided forconnecting to a database, or accessing a web UI. Since this file is printed to STDOUT when runninghelm install or helm status, it is recommended to keep the content brief and point to the READMEfor greater detail.
Practically speaking, this means that if you create resources in a hook, youcannot rely upon helm delete to remove the resources. To destroy suchresources, you need to either write code to perform this operation in a pre-deleteor post-delete hook or add "helm.sh/hook-delete-policy" annotation to the hook template file.
When a helm release, that uses a hook, is being updated, it is possible that the hook resource might already exist in the cluster. In such circumstances, by default, helm will fail trying to install the hook resource with an "... already exists" error.
If it is preferred to actually delete the hook after each use (rather than have to handle it on a subsequent use, as shown above), then this can be achieved using a delete policy of "helm.sh/hook-delete-policy": "hook-succeeded,hook-failed".

A test in a helm chart lives under the templates/ directory and is a pod definition that specifies a container with a given command to run. When deploying a Helm application Argo CD is using Helmonly as a template mechanism. It runs helm template andthen deploys the resulting manifests on the cluster instead of doing helm install. This means that you cannot use any Helm commandto view/verify the application. It is fully managed by Argo CD.Note that Argo CD supports natively some capabilities that you might miss in Helm (such as the history and rollback commands).

When syncing from a Helm repository, make sure you set the correct value forspec.helm.chart. The chart name doesn't contain the chart version or .tgz.You can verify your chart name with thehelm template command.

I am working on an HPA template that will be applied only if the enabled value is set to true. Currently when setting enabled to false, it will create an empty object in yaml. This is then applied with an error stating that there is no apiVersion defined. How can I tell helm to not apply the HPA template if the value is set to false our skip the resource templating?
There are situations where you want to fail a Job after some amount of retriesdue to a logical error in configuration etc.To do so, set .spec.backoffLimit to specify the number of retries beforeconsidering a Job as failed. The back-off limit is set by default to 6. FailedPods associated with the Job are recreated by the Job controller with anexponential back-off delay (10s, 20s, 40s ...) capped at six minutes.
By default, a Job will run uninterrupted unless a Pod fails (restartPolicy=Never)or a Container exits in error (restartPolicy=OnFailure), at which point the Job defers to the.spec.backoffLimit described above. Once .spec.backoffLimit has been reached the Job willbe marked as failed and any running Pods will be terminated.
