Tata Steel to commission new blast furnace at Jamshedpur today

NEW DELHI - Tata Steel Ltd. will commission a 1.8-mln-tn blast
furnace at
Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, today, a company spokesperson said.
With the commissioning of the blast furnace, crude steel capacity
of the
company's Jamshedpur plant will rise to 7 mln tn per year.
The company has plans to ramp up the Jamshedpur plant capacity to
10 mln
tn per annum by 2010.
Tata Steel makes long and flat steel products at its plant in
Jamshedpur.
Shares of Tata Steel Friday closed at 902.80 rupees on the
National Stock
Exchange, up 0.7% from a day earlier. End
