Govt may up rates for its newspapers advertisements in 15 days

NEW DELHI - The government may soon pay more for its
advertisements in newspapers. Taking cognizance of the rising
newsprint costs, Information and Broadcasting Minister P.R. Dasmunsi
today said that the government may revise its advertisement rates
within a fortnight.
"I am currently in the process of consultations with the
stakeholders to give a final shape to the measures for providing
relief to the newspaper industry. It is expected that necessary
changes in the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity's
advertisement rates policy guidelines could be effected within a
fortnight," a government release, quoting the minister,said.
