India May car sales up 14% on year, two-wheelers up 7%

India's domestic passenger car sales grew 14.3% year-on-year in
May to 110,743 units from 96,923 a year ago, the automobile
manufacturers' body said today.
May car sales were 12.2% higher than 98,740 units sold a month
earlier, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said.
Domestic commercial vehicle sales in May rose 6.1% from a year ago
to 35,294 units, the association said.
Local two-wheeler sales in May grew 7.0% to 647,358 units from
605,014 units a year ago.
Motorcycle sales for the month were up 7.4% on year to 513,209
units. SIAM detailed the domestic sales of commercial vehicles,
passenger cars, three-wheelers, and two-wheelers for May as follows:
