NASSCOM sees India achieving FY10 IT-BPO export aim of $60 bln

NEW DELHI - India is "well on its way" to achieve its target of
$60 bln worth annual exports in information technology and business
process outsourcing sectors by 2009-10 (Apr-Mar), industry body
NASSCOM said today.
NASSCOM today released its annual survey on the performance of the
Indian software and services sector, excluding hardware, for 2007-08
and outlook for the current year to March.
It said the Indian IT and BPO industry, including the domestic
market, grew 28% year on year to $52 bln during 2007-08.
The software and services exports segment grew 29% to $40.4 bln,
while domestic software and services segment rose 26% to $11.6 bln
during the last
financial year, NASSCOM said.
Within these exports, those of IT services rose 28% to $23.1 bln,
while
BPO rose 30% to $10.9 bln. Engineering services and product exports
clocked
revenues of $6.4 bln in 2007-08, up 29% on year.
The survey predicts India's overall IT software and services
revenues to
grow around 24% to $50 bln in 2008-09.
