Equity Alert: European mkts up slightly; telecom, utility shrs firm
MUMBAI--2:45PM--European markets were up slightly on gains in
shares of
telecom and utility companies.
Unilever gained 1% after Merrill Lynch raised its recommendation
on the
stock to 'buy' from 'neutral'.
Among telecom companies, Deutsche Telekom and Gaz de France rose
1% each.
UBS AG fell 3% after the European bank said it may incur more
losses from
holdings in U.S. and other global mortgage markets.
Markets in U.K. were shut because of a holiday on account of
Memorial Day.
