I would like to make some files stored in my Dropbox, downloadable from a web page. For this reason, I would like to be able to create Short URL's for each file. I have read the following tutorial but it seems to be old: -to-dropbox-files-folders-short-url/6215/

It's quite frustrating that they removed the short links. It was so helpful. Links are shared over text, IM, etc. We cant always hyperlink something or just paste long links everywhere. You can use the bitly browser extension (bitly.com/a/tools) to get around this. The lack of this feature is just not ok for a company as mature as Dropbox.
Many people like myself use DropBox for secure storage within their business and have sensitivities around a third-party hosting their URL, as they have traditionally been a vector for leaks. For DropBox to have their own URL shortener just makes sense.
A workaround I use is to share the folder with a password and expiration date on the link, then use bit.ly to shorten the enormously long link. I have Dropbox for Business. Not sure if passwords work anywhere else.
Bitly has enabled us to build trust with clients by giving them branded short links that carry the main message of the link and that carries our brand. Bitly also gives us data analytics on who is clicking our links which helps us carry the clients forward in the advertising process.
Think of a short URL as a more descriptive and memorable nickname for your long webpage address. You can, for example, use a short URL like bit.ly/CelebrateBitly so people will have a good idea about where your link will lead before they click it.
How many people can even remember a long web address, especially if it has tons of characters and symbols? A short URL can make your link more memorable. Not only does it allow people to easily recall and share your link with others, it can also dramatically improve traffic to your content.
There are several benefits of branding your short links. Branded links build trust between your audience and your business, drive more clicks, give your audience a preview of where they are being taken and increase brand awareness.
Quick response or QR, is a type of barcode that can store a multitude of information. The obvious difference between a QR Code and Barcode is its appearance. A QR Code is usually in the shape of a square and contains smaller, even blocks similar to Tetris. A Barcode, on the other hand, has vertical bars in different thicknesses and is often accompanied by a serial number.
Because of its versatility, a QR Code can be programmed to do a multitude of things. It can be split into two formats: Dynamic and Static. A Dynamic QR Code is useful for businesses or nonprofits in their marketing strategy because of its advantages. Though it needs a subscription to work, it is a small price to pay compared to the benefits it offers. Dynamic QR Code solutions are editable, which means if you made a mistake and only noticed it after the QR Codes are printed, you can easily log in to the dashboard and fix them without changing the appearance of the already printed Codes.
A landing page is a standalone web page that can be used for promoting your brand, product, or service, or as a link-in-bio to showcase various links. It serves to engage visitors and prompt specific actions, such as making a purchase or signing up for events.
Links to shared files and folders in OneDrive and SharePoint are now shorter and have a new format. For example, the following shows the old and new format for a OneDrive link that works for anyone inside the organization.
The new link format might affect applications or services that inspect or take dependencies on OneDrive or SharePoint URL structures, especially if those applications or services parse the site URL or specific strings. The new short links are compatible with all APIs that work with guestaccess.aspx links.
To determine the specific type of link, inspect the IsSharingLink and IsAnonymous fields in the response for the GetSharingLinkData API (replace GetFileByUrl with GetSharingLinkData in the examples). Use this method instead of parsing URLs for tokens such as guestaccess.aspx.
CSOM does not have a supported way to interact with user input links. Some applications open a ClientContext and query the file metadata by successively truncating path segments from the SharePoint link until the ClientContext constructor succeeds. This approach no longer works with the new URL format.
Outlook will automatically add the file type icon (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and shorten the URL to the name of the document. You can undo this change and show the full URL. Just right-click the link and select Show Full URL.
TIP: By registering an account you can view, list and manage all your short urls in one place. Sort through them all easily, view the url statistics. You can also change the destination of a shorturl you created to another Playlist, Artist page or Album and also see the QR code and links.

Most links that are shared on social media are shortened links rather than full URLs purly because they have a smaller presence with the same effect. Links you drop into the composer when scheduling posts through Buffer are automatically shortened using the buff.ly link shortener, but this can be changed if desired.
Link shorteners are set individually for each social channel, meaning you might use buff.ly for some channels, and bit.ly for others (for example). To change your link shortener, select the channel on the left hand side of your dashboard that you'd like to change, and then select the Settings tab.
Under the General tab, you'll find a section at the top called Link Shortening. In the drop down menu, you can choose between buff.ly and bit.ly. You can also select "No Shortening" if you want to disable link shortening completely.
Now that your A record has been added to your domain name you need to go back to the Branding Domains Settings on Bitly and click the Verify button. When you do this, your domain should then be connected to your Bitly account.
Next, log into your Buffer account, select the channel on the left hand side of your dashboard that you'd like to change, and select the Settings tab. Under the General tab, you'll find a section at the top called Link Shortening. Click Connect Bitly. Follow the steps to authorize Buffer to connect to your Bitly account.
Unless you have explicitly disabled link shortening for a social channel, any links you paste into the composer will be automatically shortened and the buff.ly link shortener will be used by default. If you prefer the full URL, you can either unshorten URLs on a link by link basis, or turn off link shortening completely for the channel.
If you have link shortening enabled in your channel settings, but want to occasionally leave a URL unshortened in your posts, you can use the link shortening button in the composer. If you change your mind, you can click the button again to re-shorten the link, like so:
