I could then startup Illustrator CS5 without any problems. So there seems to be a problem with the "amtlib.dll" file, I don't know whether certain fonts can corrupt it or not but this fixed it for me.
At your own discretion go to The Pirate Bay and type Adobe CS5 patch and the 1st link has a patched amtdll file torrent for illustrator CS5 or type in Google "Illustrator cs5 amtlib.dll" and the 5th link will bring you to the link I mentioned before. I scanned it with AVG anti-virus and Malwarebytes Anti-malware and it was clean. It fixed my illustrator CS5 problem.
When trying to run perform an edit against a file trying to add a text element, Elements v 10 crashes telling me that "system32/amtlib.dll" is not a valid windows file or is currupt. I am suspecious of the recent "inspiration browser" install a couple of months ago. However that being said, Adobe's tech support is not helpful, I figured the best way fix this might be do do a clean install.

The problem is: I already have the 127.0.0.1 lmlicenses.wip4.adobe.com and the 127.0.0.1 lm.licenses.adobe.com in my hosts file, as I added them when I installed Photoshop. *The host file needs to be opened with Notepad and than paste all of the lines there*
I have recently bought a new laptop and I was excited to finally install illustrator on it. To my disappointment, after the installation, when I tried to open Adobe Illustrator, I got the error saying illustrator amtlib dll could not be found. How do I get it working?
