A geodesic dome is a spherical or partial-spherical shell structure or lattice shell based on a network of great circles (geodesics) on the surface of a sphere. The geodesics intersect to form triangular elements that have local triangular rigidity and also distribute the stress across the structure. When completed to form a complete sphere, it is a geodesic sphere. A dome is enclosed, unlike open geodesic structures such as playground climbers.(wikipedia)

For growing food, the unique (more like patter from Nature) shape prevent "hot air pockets" from forming, accommodate tall plants, admits great amount of light, and provide great stability.  The common challenge is assembling.

Dean from Classic Compost offer some of material for probably 40' diameter, 20' tall dome. It probably use 4V structure (it is a style of structure and also  level of complexity. Higher the number the more complex it is. Also larger structure requires higher complexity)
Dean got information on how to build part. Still it will require more knowledge, skills, and hands to build.

At this point, I'm forming a working group. We will have project meeting soon. If you are interested in involved this project, please let me know!

Haruko,

I would be very interested in getting my hands into this.  Hopefully our group can provide many hands on this one.
