Hi Haruko et all,
As I mentioned when I saw you the other night, I just received a load
of information from Jack. The supplier is out of Aldergrove and is
one of the first that I have heard from in BC. The prices also seem
very good being $20 for $250 plugs of Oyster mushrooms used to
innoculate logs. Also a 7lb pack of wood chip based "habitat spawn"
for seeding outdoor patches with Garden Giant, Almond Mushroom, Shaggy
Man, portobello or Morel costing $25. Fresh wood chips or straw in a
bed or trench in the garden may be used to produce mushrooms such as
the Garden Giant, Shaggy Mane and the Almond mushroom. Spawn
sprinkled at root level just under the grass along with compost/straw/
wood chips may be enought to start a patch of mushrooms. Compost made
from straw and horse manure is best for mushrooms suc as the Button,
Portobello andAlmond Mushroom. I have whole bunch of information on
this method and it appears as if we may be able to try this in the
beds at the OC gardens, however it may be tricky when we are also
planting in other things. I am hoping to get some of this for my
garden so I am happy to either share some of mine or order some for
Permaculture.
