Samsung Galaxy A9, Android 10

I payed attention only yesterday :-( , that export does not work any more.

I have this application a lot of time, probably since 2017 and regularly perform Export (in CSV format). Last .csv file has been created in March 2021 under /Internal Storage/kellermeister folder.

No more backup files have been created! :-(

During export command there is no any error message. I tried in both formats and the result was the same - no files created.

I suppose it is something with privileges, because I do not see any Kellermeister files in any folder on Phone & on Card. Attached find  kellermaister fils found on my phone

Thank you in advance,

Valery

With Android v 10 and higher there is no accessible folder with Kellermeister data anymore. You have to export via "Export" and "Send via mail" . Import: Copy to phone and use any file explorer and start it by "double-click", chosing Kellermeister als related app.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer and sorry being late to read it.
I'm afraid I did not understand
Attached find two screen shots I used for a backup before Android 10 update.
As well, I have Cx File Explorer installed on my Galaxy A9.
My questions:
1. Do you mean  "Export" to be one from Maintain Cellar menu? As I wrote, when I click it works, but no results, as it was
2. What does it mean "...and Send via mail"? Is it and option somewhere in Kellermeister?
3. What does it mean "to start Cx File Explorer by double-click,  choosing Kellermeister als related app"

I'm very sorry, I worked all my life with computers, but not with Android, so, maybe, these are stupid questions.
You have to agree that backup is a basic thing when working with any computer, including Android.
Till Android 10 I did Kellermeister backup regularly,  saving resulting file on my Google drive.
It worked so well that, as I wrote, I did not pay attention it stopped :-(

So, can you just write a simple step-by-step instruction, how to backup Kellermeister on Android device?
My Kellarmeister version is 21.09 and it seams to be a latest one.

Thank you in advance,
Valery

ad 1. yes, correct
ad 2. "Share Cellar" is available in the menu
ad 3. it is meant here that you should use your favourite explorer to navigate to the CSV or ZIP archive and then "double-click" the file

I fully agree that a backup is always a good idea. In fact it was available since the early days back to 2011. Android 10 and later introduced changes and with that limitations due to security concerns. That's the reason why files are stored in the app's sandbox area which is only accessible by the app.

Optionally there is a cloud-backed synchronisation feature available, see menu "Login". This is my preferred option since ZIP is ok but needs some attention.

Thank you, Jürgen

So, a "new" backup process is now a 3-step-process:
a) Export (in any format)
b) Share cellar
c) Click on desired  backup file from the list and then save it:
     - on Smartphone memory (for example, by means of CX File Explorer)
     - on Google Drive or Dropbox (or any other cloud disk in use)
     - sending it via e-Mail

All work fine, I checked it!
Regarding two formats CSV and ZIP, I hope  both are good in the same way to restore or move
the Cellar by means of "Import cellar" option, aren't they?

I do not need to read archive files at all, just to restore from them, if will be needed.
Anyway, CSV archive cannot be read with Excel, and ZIP archive looks  to be an XML file, when opened.
Also without any use for me.

And the last comment :-)
If you will look into Help->FAQ first line "How to backup my data?",
you will see, that a fist option is not relevant any more

And now the last question, just to understand, it is not important for me.
You wrote "Optionally there is a cloud-backed synchronization feature available,, see menu "Login"
I did not found menu "Login" :-(,  while there is Synchronize option in Setup (OK by default)

Have a nice day,
Valery

Just a little update.
I wrote I cannot read CSV archive on Smartphone, because Excel does not open it.
I have tested this on Google Drive via my Windows 10 PC and it works. I mean, Google Drive opens it with Excel by default.
More of this, I can download it from within to my PC as CSV file and then open it with Excel.
All above only FYI

In general, yes. Remember that CSV cannot store images by nature.

CSV archive cannot be read with Excel,

Oh, this should be possible. What is the Excel behaviour here? Btw: I recommend using OpenOffice/LibreOffice since Excel sometimes mangles data when importing from CSV.

Yes, that's true. The article is 9 years old... anyway, I think commenting on an article is not the best way to have a conversation. That's the reason why I closed the article for comments and suggested to follow-up in the forum :)

Thanks!
My comment regarding Help was some kind of joke, sorry. Just because there is Help in About screen, but User Group is above 😉
Regarding Login, as wrote, it is not so important for me, but I do not see it. Find attached screen shot

Sorry, you are absolutely right. Honestly, I must admit that I got somehow "blind" here as I was not aware that this article is linked inside the app. BIG thanks for this heads-up!
I'll update the FAQ section now and also try to do in the future :)

Regarding to "Sync": did you enable this option in preferences?

Now I did it and it looks, like I'm logged in - I see now Sign out in menu 🤭
Probaby, I logged in after install, but it was so long time ago...
Sorry for stupididy.
Anyway, I executed Synchonize function and allowed it to use my Google account. I supposed to see something in backup section of my Google Drive, but found nothing from Kellermeister.
Then I found in Forum, that I cannot see this "backup" there, because only Kellermeister application might.
One more time, and only to uderstsnd. If it is some kind of backup, how restore works?

Not urgent!!!! A "regular" backup works great and it is enough for me.

Restore works vice versa: you would install the app on your new device (or on your current one assuming you reset it to factory state or somehow deleted everything)
and then "login" which basically allows the app to synchronize your local database with the Kellermeister's backend database. After starting the synchronization it will need some time to finish.
The duration of the action largely depends on the size and number of images attached to the storages and the network's bandwidth.

If everything goes well you should have the same data on your local device. Sometimes - especially when sync'ing the first time - timeouts may occur. Then just repeat by using the "Synchronize" action. "Synchronize all" is the same when doing it the first time. Once you have managed to sync for the first time further sync actions should work way faster.

So please use with care if you have hundreds or thousands of images :)

Great!
Thank you so much for your help.
From now, I'll do both kinds of backup, including sinchronizstiob, to be ready for all possible situations.
