Hi all,

Wish you all a very happy new year! :)

Here is a list of questions that you can try answering before meeting a school or old age home authority. Answers to these questions will help you develop a framework for your conversation with the authorities you are meeting.

1. What is the present situation in the area that the project is focusing on?

2. What is the predictable future in this area if no action is taken? (For example, opportunities missed, deterioration of existing situation, etc.)

3. The way the future could be in this area if a new possibility is created?

4. The outcome of the possibility leaves others touched, moved and inspired.

In our project's case, the possibility would be the intentions of the project mentioned in the ppt, viz., bringing smile to face of the elderly, emotional support to them, enabling children to realise the power of a hand-written letter and instilling in them the urge to reach out to people who are in need in the society.

Once you answer these questions you will have a broad framework and points to stress on during your conversation. While having the conversation the following structure may be helpful.

1. Create a background of relatedness at the start of conversation - Background of relatedness sets up the context in which you can introduce the project and its possibility.

2. Share the possibility in ordinary language - plain and simple.

3. Predictable future if no action is taken, future that is possible if action is taken.

4. Take ideas and suggestions from the other person.

While having the conversation focus on whether your conversation is generating an opportunity for the other person. You need not worry about whether their response will be positive or negative. Consider it as a process of sharing a possibility for betterment that you have in your mind.

All the best! Do let the team members know whether this framework was helpful in your conversations.

Keep Smiling,

Hariprasad
