Checklists on the PR template

I love the checklist format in the PR template, but unfortunately it doesn't jive well with the new feature GitHub put in place, specifically the task completion summary:


This conflicts with PR's that have actual tasks to complete, such as the one below the example callout. Can we find a way to keep the "checklist" vibe in place but not actually use checkmark boxes? Then the tasklist won't appear unless there are actually tasks to complete.

Hmmm, I was thinking instead of using [ ] markdown we just use O and X? or something like that... I am just not sure.

Yes, by me is fine just adding the :white_check_mark: to the done options and leave nothing to the others.

[x] --> :white_check_mark:
[ ] --> nothing
