I can't seem to get KeePassDroid to open the key file and database I've synced from my PC via Dropbox. If I navigate to the .kdbx and .key file from the app itself, the files are grayed out. If I use File Commander, I can open the .kdbx file with KeePassDroid, but when I then try to select the key file, again it's greyed out. And obviously File Commander doesn't recognize the key file if I open that first.

Any way around this issue? Am I going about this the wrong way or something?

I'm faced the same Issue... And I don't know why..?
Maybe a right permission issue...

I had the same issue when trying to setup my new Droid Turbo (Android 4.4.4). I installed KeePassDroid 2.0.3 and used email to send a working KeyPass2.kdbx as file attachment which I saved to my phone's Download folder. KeePassDroid would not allow me to select/open the file (it remained greyed out). Tried a .kdb exported version of the same db, - no luck. Tried navigating to the file via OIFileExplorer and KeePassDroid  asked for the password but after I entered it, I got a "Database Format not recognized" error. I tried moving the files to a different folder, also no luck.
I then attached my phone to my computer via USB cable and copied the .kdbx file to my DCIM folder (just picked a folder at random). KeePassDroid now works fine.
Not sure if my email transfer somehow corrupted the files, or if there is a permission issue going on, but happy to have my password file on my phone again.

Hope this helps...

I can't open a data base generated in my PC KeePass. As said previously I tried copying the file via a USB cable, but doesn't work.

Any help? Thanks

I had same problem with Android 5.0.2, after copying it via Windows Explorer to a new folder (created with Windows) at the SD-card or internal memory.
I also tried to create the folder with an explorer App at the phone - but that folder I could not see at the Windows Explorer.

Afterwards I created a keepass file wit the droid-app within the same folder, and opened and closed it without any modification.
I retried to open the file from PC with the droid-app by typing in its name - now it was possible.
I have no idea why - but now it's working.

Same here. The *.kbd file can't be selected on the file-browser. (Android 5.0.2, Keepassdroid 2.0.3)

I had to copy my kdb to the keypass directory and renamed it with the same name of the empty kdb created by keepassdroid.

there is something like a internal table in andorid with a association from fileformat to File extension.
This is corrupt for KeePaas after fresh installing KeePaas on some Android Versions.
you need to reasign the .kdbx Fileformat to KeePaas
this helps me to solve this problem.

I'm having a similar issue.   I've uploaded my KeyPass database to my Microsoft OneDrive folder.  I have no problems updating the database from either PC connected to this OneDrive account.

On my Google Nexus 6, running Marshmallow, (connected to this account) I can _see_ the KeyPass database, but it's greyed out in the KeyPass interface and I cannot select it.

Where do I go to reassign the .kdbx fileformat to keepass?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6, Android 5.1.1
