Hey folks, there's still time to register either as an individual or as a group for the first Berkeley City-wide Exercise that's being held next Saturday, May 19, from 9-11 am. Go to
http://www.cityofberkeley.info/ContentDisplay.aspx?id=79540 for
registration and details, including the Handbook, forms and tips for the exercise.
Remember, all are welcome regardless of the level of CERT training and/or previous participation in City disaster prep activities, and you do not need to be part of a formal neighborhood group to participate -- though groups of any degree of organization are encouraged to take part in the drill if possible. The exercise is completely scalable, so it's as simple or complex as you'd like it to be.
Ham Operators: If you are able to participate in this exercise, contact the NALCO Emergency Coordinator at
e...@nalco-ares-races.org and let him know your availability, equipment & preferred assignment if you haven't already done so.
Lastly, part of the exercise is the option to receive a BENS (reverse 911) text message from the City. There seems to be a little
confusion over this one, so note that it's a two-part process:
1) Sign up at:
https://alertregistration.com/Berkeley/2) Send your cell phone number to
kc...@cityofberkeley.infoYours in preparedness,
