TOWN HALL on PUBLIC SAFETY in NORTH BERKELEY
WHEN: MARCH 8th at 7:30 P.M
WHERE: NORTHBRAE COMMUNITY CHURCH
941 The Alameda (between Marin & Solano)
I am very saddened and disturbed by the tragic murder of Peter Cukor outside of his home at Park Gate and Shasta on Saturday night, the 18th of February. The circumstances surrounding the incident have raised many concerns about safety and police protection. I have talked to some of you personally and others by email. However, given the nature of the incident, I think that a public meeting where you all have an opportunity to voice your concerns and get answers to your questions directly from the Police Chief would be in the best interests of our community.
I have requested that Police Chief Meehan and City Manager Daniels meet with my constituents to provide information as well as answers to individual questions. Also attending will be a supervising dispatcher, and our Area Coordinator from BPD, Officer Byron White.
This incident has affected all of us who live in North Berkeley. I have invited Councilmember Capitelli to co-host the meeting with me so that his constituents in District 5 can participate and benefit as well.
Please pass this invitation along to your friends and neighbors.
I hope you can join us on March 8th.
Sincerely,
Susan WengrafBerkeley City Councilmember
