Hello, Keeler neighbors!
Hope you are all going to come to the gathering Oct. 2, Sun. from 3-5pm at Remillard Park.
In order to make it an informative (as well as social) affair, I have a request:
if you took a CERT training (Community Emergency Response Training) in Berkeley, or any other emergency, safety, or the like preparedness type of training anywhere, could you give a short synopsis of your experience to the group?  So that we can continue with our preparedness, we need to get more folks on our block trained (classes are full up to Dec. 3). We can get in on the next block if we plan ahead.
So let's get going!
Please let me know. Thanks, Cheryl Crane

Hi,

This is Doris Kretschmer, 890 Keeler (at Marin, on the west side of Keeler). I had a phone call this morning from Diane Joy who lives in the big brown-shingle house under the redwoods, third house from Marin on the west side of Keeler. She had a coyote in her back yard about 8 a.m. this morning. She saw it from her deck on the west side of her house; it sat on a rock and looked at her very calmly, then moved on west down the hill.

Diane called me about it because a coyote walked through our back patio, moving from Keeler west down the hill, about a month ago.

Amazing!

Has anyone else seen a coyote around? We think it's pretty exciting, but one does worry about cats, small dogs--even babies left asleep in the back yard?

It's a jungle out there.

Can you send the coyote over to my yard next time so it can chase off the pesky deer? That would be GREAT!

Actually, coyotes, especially solitary ones, will rarely attack anything larger than a rabbit (or squirrel around here), but that means it's definitely worth thinking about your smaller cats and dogs loitering about the yard alone. And I guess toddlers and other small humans should be watched after as well.

Yes, I caught a glimpse of one last week. My sons used to see them frequently when coming home late at night.
