We need to have a meeting. when are people available next week? I am
quite disappointed I know some of you have been making an effort but I
have neither the time or the inclination to chase people. I want all
of you to check your emails regularly. I dont have time to be
emailling texting and facebooking people and frankly you should be
doing that anyway, when you are working there will be no excuse for
not checking your emails and a lot of essential info is passed on from
uni that way. I want EVERYONE to tell me when they are available next
week. I am not going to do everything myself and I shouldnt have to.

Thank you for your email Lucy.

I agree I think we should have a meeting next week.  I will be able to do monday or Wednesday next week.  I am still unsure as to how this google group works so for the time being I shall just email you.

Regards

Is this to arrange a meeting of the GP society in general to discuss
events etc? It may be easier to set a date time and place that you
assume will be easy like Wednesday afternoon (or evening if you have
placement) and then publicise it everywhere like facebook and in
lectures. I'm Happy to speak up in Mod 1 lectures if you don't have a
rep. Otherwise I'm free most evenings except Mon and Fri.

Kind regards, Ellie.

I am aiming to attend, but do have a meeting beforehand, so my apologies in advance if I'm late.

Can I add 2 items to the agenda for tonight in addition to sorting out the details of the Roger Neighbour visit :

1) re student bursaries and if anyone would like to apply for one for RCGP or other conference  as per email from carol ( see below for further info )
2) the RCGP student forum: how it can support the society/how you want to use it( see below for more info)

Best Wishes and I hope to see you all at the CEC

Catherine

1) student "Dear Student
I am pleased to be able to inform you that the Medical School has
managed to identify a small grant to help students with the expense of
attending conferences. If you wish to apply for this, please use the
form attached, which as you can see is also the form you should use to
get permission to attend a conference. When completed, please return
this to me preferably at medstudentsupport@ keele.ac.uk. A group will
consider these applications every few months so you may not be
reimbursed until after the event. Regrettably, as finances are limited,
we may not be able to fund every application and there is an upper limit
of £250, so please declare any other funding that you may be able to secure.
As this is the start of this initiative, I am happy on this occasion to
receive requests for any conferences this academic year (as long as the
form is completed).
The first meeting will be mid March so any applicants who are successful
will be contacted shortly after that.
It might be worth filing this somewhere safe as we will not send regular
reminders but I will arrange a reminder on the Web on the Funding page
Good luck with any applications

(2 RCGP student forum) Keele University

02 February 2012

Dear Professor R.K. McKinley

RCGP Student Forum

For a few years now the RCGP Student Forum has been running and we would now like to review this initiative and update our records.  It was an initiative for undergraduate students to introduce them to general practice and encourage them to consider the profession early on in their medical careers.  We currently have over a 1000 students registered with us.

The website contains careers information and the chance to learn about the pathway to becoming a GP. Much of the information on the site is accessible by the public but certain valuable sections are password protected with contributions from medical school students, foundation doctors and GPs. The Forum contains CV and interview advice, instructions on how to run an event, profiles of GPs and many links signposting the users to where further information can be found. The content has been selected to show the diversity within the profession and to support undergraduates through their degree and onto the Foundation Programme.

We would like to continue to promote the initiative across the UK and improve our engagement with the medical students and would like your support in encouraging students to sign up.  We would also like to find out If your medical school has a GP Society and how this is currently running.

We would like to also confirm that you would be the best person to contact for future correspondence.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely
